Chiura gripped Hyousuke's hand with a serpentine vigor. There may as well have been fireworks exploding behind the pair for how invigorated they both seemed to feel; it was, to the average onlooker, likely a very silly moment indeed.
Still, Chiura was happy for it; she had made other acquaintances during her brief time at U.A., but Hyousuke was perhaps the first true kindred spirit that she had found. Perhaps there was hope that she might find more; perhaps, she thought, this social structure could work for her after all.
"Definitely!" she chimed, giving the boy a confident nod. "We have a long way to go, though. Big words are all well and good, but -- well, we've gotta study our butts off!"
She paused and blinked, looking behind her for a moment. "Or -- well. Your butt off. And my tail. You know what I mean." She laughed, rolling her eyes; it was easier to joke around with Hyousuke, now that she felt more comfortable with him.
"I've been going to the tracks every morning to get a supplemental workout in -- if you wanted to join me." Why not invite Hyousuke to such a thing? The more the merrier, right? And maybe Chiura wouldn't feel so darn awkward if she had a familiar face with her at the training fields every morning. That way, people wouldn't feel so inclined to stare at her like she didn't belong.
Or maybe they would -- but at least Chiura would feel comfier just ignoring them.

| A laugh escaped Hyousuke. It was only slight, and his expression didn't change much, but there was no doubt that it was a genuinely happy one at all. Somehow, in the span of under an hour, she'd lowered his guard enough to make him that comfortable with her - he wasn't sure if he was supposed to be relieved that he'd encountered someone like that by chance, or a little suspicious about having found someone that could work past his defences so easily. He supposed he'd think about it when he got home, though. He wanted to just enjoy it while he could.
"The tracks?" He pondered her question for a moment, wondering if accepting it was in his best interests. Exercising was like meditation to him, after all - something he did on his own to relax, and to shut out everything and everyone around him. A way to gather himself before the day arrived proper. But on the other hand, he'd promised himself and others that he'd try to change for high school - perhaps actually socialising would have to be a part of it? "Sure, I'd be happy to come. What time did you want me th-"
Before he had a chance to finish, he noticed something out the window - or, rather, the complete lack of something. The rain had stopped without him noticing, and through what clouds remained, the sun's light was shining. Almost immediately, Hyousuke started gathering up his things. "I'm really sorry for leaving you like this, but I need to get back before the rain starts again. I don't want to get caught like, well, this." He gestured down at his still-damp clothes, before moving off the chair. He seemed to remember something before he left, however, and used the pen in his pocket to scrawl something on a napkin nearby. "Call me when you're free, we can set something up then!"
With that, Hyousuke started out the door, dead-set on sprinting home before he could get soaked. Again. |
