"I prefer the word convincing over brainwashing, personally," Aki said. He downed what was left of his room-temperature tea, set the cup back down on the saucer with a hollow clink. "We have been here for a while."
Picking up a serviette, he gingerly wrapped the remaining biscuit in it. He wasn't about to stuff the whole thing in his mouth -- the half-piece from earlier had stuck around in his throat longer than was comfortable, even with the lukewarm tea -- but it really was getting late.
He hadn't expected to spend as long as he did talking to Hyousuke. Hadn't expected to lose track of time at all. The time he spent outdoors was usually carefully calculated -- and his time at the café was no exception: Aki would stick around only long enough to feel confident that he'd lost whoever was trying to track him, and would leave promptly, taking a circuitous route through the streets back to the U.A. dorms. When he first unceremoniously plopped into the seat opposite Hyousuke, he had expected a scornful look, maybe a scathing comment or two -- and, well. He did get both of the above, but their ensuing back-and-forth was a... not-unpleasant surprise.
Aki wouldn't be opposed to saying hello, if they ever bumped into each other at the café again.
Tissue-wrapped shortbread tucked into his palm, he stood up from his seat, brushing the crumbs off his blazer with his free hand.
"Hyousuke-san, right? I'll see you around."

WORD COUNT 185
| Hyousuke had expected to be alone. It was rare that anyone in general spoke to him in the cafe outside of business - usually, the most conversation he'd have was being informed of a new drink or treat that was available. And meeting someone from school? It was a one in a million chance, if that - in all the time he'd been at the cafe, he'd never actually seen anyone in the uniform, or anyone else below the age of twenty. When he had seen someone that fit the bill sit down in front of him, he'd not expected much, but by the end of it... he supposed company wasn't so bad.
"Just try not to take my seat if you get here first." He teased, and offered a smirk to Aki. He'd stay behind a little bit longer - he had a few things to take care of, some messages to send, and some reminders to set on his phone. He figured he might as well get them done in the comfort of the cafe, rather than somewhere he might get distracted and forget about it. |

"Oh, I'll do much worse than that, I assure you," Aki retorted, with an answering quirk of his lips and a jaunty wave. "Enjoy your evening."
It seemed like Hyousuke was going to stick around in the café for a little longer -- not that it was any of Aki's business. It was back to routine, now that he was preparing to go; all rote motion, mind blank of extraneous concerns. Bumping his chair back into place with his hip, he carted his tray of empty cups and plates to the end of the counter, and slid them under the handwritten "Dirty Dishes Here!". He repeated the same thing he said every time he left the café, each time no less genuine: "Thank you for the food. It was as good as usual." And then, he made his way to the door. Checked his pants for crumbs; his mask for cracks. There were none, of course, but --
He was always a little reluctant to leave. (This time, a little more than usual.)
His eyes flitted back to Hyousuke. U.A. was big, but it wasn't that large; maybe they'd bump into each other in school? Or, well, they could always cross paths at the café. As long Hyousuke kept coming here in his uniform, Aki was sure he wouldn't lose him in the crowd -- not that there was much of one in the café to begin with. He would have another chance to induct Hyousuke into his cult of savoury food lovers, then.
The door creaked as Aki pulled it open. He stepped into the street, feeling lighter than when he entered.
