Yui let out a small groan of pain, as she uncurled herself round the child she had knocked out of harms way. Ignoring her own body's flares of pain which lanced up her battered form akin to a damage report on a wounded warship. The kid was fine, dazed, a bit pale which she put down to shock rather than any real injury. There was chaos on the streets, people running, screaming, judging from the acrid smell of smoke, somewhere something burned. Yui knew she should not have got involved, she was not meant to be using her powers outside of school, yet... She could not sit by and do nothing, especially when a life was in danger. Her UA High uniform was dusty and torn in a few places, but otherwise she seemed okay, though heaven knew how many bruises her body might reveal come tomorrow. The kid's mother darted suddenly into view, thanking Yui before picking up her child, her eyes wide with horror and running. Yui whipped around, surprised to find herself facing the villain, alone... No police in sight, no security guards, no heroes... Heck right now she would have been grateful for even a couple of the older years at UA.
The contrast between the two could not have been more stark. Yui was petite at best, tiny in every sense of the word, her foe, was a towering villain, his skin seemingly made from a mass of rock hard stones, his muscles rippling under the granite like surface. For a long moment he stared at the student, surprise written plain across his face. A face that looked like it may have once been as perfect and handsome as a statue of a heroic warrior in ancient Rome, now it was chipped, cracked, defiled and scarred. With a sound of rock sliding across rock, he chuckled heartily, as if amused by the prospect of this little wisp standing in his way. Yui had dived unexpectedly out through a wall to knock the kid clear from a car which the villain sent spinning out of control. "Well well... What do we have here? A little hero want to be right?" He said in a low, clearly amused tone. "Are you going to try to stop me? Don't tell me UA is getting desperate and accepting whatever you happened to be." He laughed again.
"I'll stop you." Yui said, hating how her voice sounded more like a frightened squeak rather than a heroic cry of defiance. "I cannot let you hurt anyone else." She found herself adopting a fighting stance, but her mind brought up the knowledge that it knew this resistance to be futile. She could not beat this villain, not alone. Her phone had been busted in the impact, so calling for assistance was not an option. She felt confident that one of her civilians must have put a call in. All she needed to do now was hold out till a hero or heroes arrived. A simply plan really. Suddenly without warning the villain flipped a car in her direction, Yui dived aside, rolling as she hit the ground. She barely had time to scramble to her feet as he rushed upon her. Yui darted away, adrenaline lending her aching form speed, she slid over the bonnet of a car and pelted down the street villain in pursuit.
"Running away are we hero? Doesn't seem very heroic to me!" He taunted as he toyed with this potential hero. Without warning a car flew in front of Yui, striking the ground in front of her. She had not time, no alternative but to use her Quirk, diving through it. She rolled and bounced across the ground, sliding to an eventual halt. Everything hurt. Yui tried to push herself up, she had to keep going, the people needed her to help... Her parents... A tear slid down her cheek, whether from pain, frustration, grief or fear she could not say. Yet before the student managed to force herself onto her feet, a cruel rock hard fist closed about her legs, whipping her up into the air. Yui hung upside down, her face scant inches away from the towering villain. "Gotcha hero." He taunted, laughing to himself. "That's a fancy Quirk of yours... But I'm guessing a runt like you is at her limit otherwise you would have just slipped through my fingers." He held her aloft, his movements jerking her violently in the air. "Congratulations hero... You failed to protect the people. You wanna know why? Because you are in my cold stone hands and I am as free as a bird."
Yui tried to think of a response, of some way to escape, to win, but the pain, the bitter sting of defeat prevented any chances of a plan coming together. She made an attempt to pry his hand loose, but was rewarded only by more laughing. "Give up hero. No one is coming to save you just like you failed to save the citizens."

The first report from the scene said something about a car crash. The next mentioned a fire or an explosion of some kind. But it wasn't until the third that the possibility of a villain was even mentioned, and it was at that point when the call went out. Cinder wasn't the closest to the scene at the time, but that hardly mattered; since she started her work at the agency she was almost always the first one to respond.
A blaze of red screamed through the air, bounding from one building to the next. The world blurred around her as fire poured off every inch of her body, flames propelling her forward at insane speeds. That feeling of elation and adrenaline, of riding right on edge of control as she rocketed through the streets, it was something she could never quite get enough of, but the urgency of the situation brought it to a new level. With an almost manic grin plastered on her face she continued to surge forward, each burst of inhuman speed that brought her nearer to her objective causing the sense of excitement and anticipation welling up inside to grow. What would happen this time? What would she find? Who would she fight? The feeling only fed her flames and made her go even faster.
As her destination drew nearer, Cinder's senses went into overdrive trying to find any sign of disturbance. She picked up the scent of smoke first, then shortly after caught sight of the plumes rising up in the distance. Two streets down she spotted the remains of a car that had been chucked into an intersection, and then the next street after that... Cinder spread her wings wide and fired a jet of flame forward to slow her momentum, causing her to skid to a halt against the glass windows of an office building. As her hand reached out for a vent to use as a hold and she clung to the structure, she extinguished most of her flames, leaving her red feathers stained with a tinge of black. Gazing out she could see a giant of a man clad in stone in the distance, reaching for a girl in a UA uniform that had fallen to the ground. She had found her quarry at last.
The man seized the girl by the legs and began taunting her as he dangled her upside down. And that was all Cinder needed to see. Releasing her grip on the vent, the hero dropped off the building and rolled over in the air as she entered a free fall. As her arms spread wide, the grin returned to her face and her entire body ignited again, blasting forth toward the man at full speed. The crack of an explosion rang out through the air with the sudden burst of acceleration, and the villain turned his head to investigate the noise just in time for Cinder's feet to slam into his face. Despite the notable difference in size between the phoenix and the golem, the pure force of the girl's momentum and the blast of fire that accompanied the impact sent the man reeling back, flinging the captive student up into the air as his arm flailed and his grip loosened. Seeing this, Cinder planted her feet onto the villain's chest and kicked off again, launching back with another quick burst of fire before extinguishing all of her feathers. The leap sent her on an intercept with the falling student and she grabbed the girl out of the air with a tight hug, one last burst from her ankles helping to kill the momentum before finally grinding to a stop on the pavement.
Dropping to one knee after making it back to solid ground, Cinder practically beamed with confidence as she looked down at the girl she held. "God, I love it when they gloat, it's almost like they're just begging for someone to prove them wrong." With a soft chuckle, she gave the girl a once over to make sure that she was still in one piece and then set her down. "Nice job holding in there, you alright?"

Things were looking dark for Yui, the bad guy was going to win and there seemed to be nothing which she could do about it. Suddenly without warning she found herself flying through the air. Her mind raced with options to avoid hitting the ground, yet before she could think of a plan and fortunately before she reintroduced herself to the tarmac, something soft caught her. Though perhaps it was more accurate to say, someone caught her. When the world finally stopped moving around her, Yui managed to get a good look at her rescuer. Her eyes widened, a hero, a genuine professional hero, the kind she hoped to one day become... Her face coloured with the embaressment of having to be rescued and from the words the hero said. "I... I'm okay, sorry I got involved..." She knew it was against the law and the rules for her to become involved in this, however she could not stand idly by and watch people get hurt knowing she was able to help. She had not planned on confronting the villain, that had been pure accident, but what else could she have done? Besides run away since any attempt to fight this guy on her own would have surely ended in failure... As did her attempt to flee from the fight and buy time.
In truth, her body ached and her Quirk had left Yui drained and exhausted. This was not how she planned for today to go, yet here she was, involved in hero work. At least there would be an interesting story to tell her friends, assuming they got out of this.
The villain had reeled back from the blow, denting a car as he stumbled, struggling to get his balance back and recover from the attack. He shook his head, clearing his vision and spat out on the tarmac, before cracking his neck. His eyes widened as they focused on the hero, before narrowing them. "That was a dirty stunt." He growled at the hero. "Is that the best you can do?" He challenged, though the mocking and confident tone was gone from his voice. The presence of a professional hero had unnerved him, plus other heroes might be arriving soon as back up with the potential for law enforcement in support. He seemed to think about this for a moment. "If you surrender now I'll promise to make it quick for you."

As Cinder looked the girl over, she couldn't help but smirk a bit at the response she got. The student had plainly been roughed up a bit, but she almost seemed more worried about the potential consequences of quirk use than her own well being. Did she really think someone was going to punish her just for trying to stay alive? Cinder shook her head. "Don't worry about it kid, I get it; I went to UA too. No one needs to know, we'll just keep this whole thing a secret between you and me, alright?" She gave the girl a wink before the grumbling of the golem man made her give a quick glance over her shoulder. "Now keep your head down and take five, me and your friend have a few things we need to clear up." She gave the girl one last pat on the shoulder before climbing back to her feet and turning around to face the stone clad villain.
"Come on, if I were to start with the best it would hardly be any fun, would it?" Despite the fact that the guy easily had three feet on her, she walked up to him with all of the confidence in the world, keeping her scarlet gaze locked onto his eyes the whole way. The tone he took with her was entirely different than what she'd seen from him with the student only moments before. Apparently he could talk the talk when he knew he had the upper hand, but the possibility of an actual fight proved it to be nothing more than bluster and posturing. That fact made Cinder actually laugh out loud when the man delivered his idea of a "threat" to the hero. "Ha! Alright big guy, and what exactly do you think you're capable of that could make me surrender?" She said with a chuckle as she took a step closer, bringing the distance between the two to a mere ten feet.
"How about this..." Cinder took another step forward and sparks flew off her feathers with a crackle. An instant later her body ignited again, cloaking her in a shroud of flame that rose from her plumage. Even at a low burn the air around her shimmered and distorted with the intense heat that poured off, and within a few moments the asphalt beneath her feet began to bubble and glow red. With a fluid motion she reached over her shoulder and grabbed the weapon that rested there, drawing the Naginata in a wide arc as it too began to glow in the heat of her aura. "...How about you surrender now, and I'll make this as painless as possible. Or do you think that skin of yours is thick enough to take the heat?" She punctuated the ultimatum by planting one hand on her hip and swinging her weapon up to level the tip at the villain's head.
"Honestly? I kinda doubt it."

Yui nodded, though she privately doubted the possibilities of keeping such a thing a secret. After all, there were phones, cameras, videos... There could be all manner of evidence linking her to the clash against the villain. Would she really risk losing her position at the school? But she had not possessed much choice in the matter, if she hadn't acted people could have been injured or worse. Surely that mattered far more than anything else? But would others see it that way? Yui staggered shakily but managed to remain standing. Truthfully, she wanted to help the hero yet logic ruled rather than foolish pride or ego. If she tried to join the battle she would only get in the way, she was too close to her limit to be of much use. It happened to be far better and much wiser to leave this to the professionals, let them deal with the villain.
The villain seemed to consider her words, but gritted his teeth and shook his head. "Come on then little flame hero." He made to block the strike with his arm, the weapon hitting with a sharp crack of splintering stone. He roared in what was a dark mixture of pain and rage, staggering from the force of the blow, his movements crushing a car beneath his bulk. The villain turned to face her, his stone like skin seemingly less like impervious granite and more akin to cobblestone now. Yui stared at him, did the villain seem slightly smaller too. Was it possible he was reaching his limit? The foe swept up part of a crushed car, swinging the improvised weapon like a hammer at the flaming hero. "You want to fight? I'll crush you!"

Cinder held her weapon steady as the villain seemed to actually mull over her proposition, but alas it wasn't meant to be. Why were they always such idiots? The instant he started to move, the girl darted forward and delivered a wide slash with her polearm, only for the man to block the blow with his forearm. Well, try to block at least, since it seemed like the heat-augmented weapon still made quite an impression on him. More than expected actually, and that kinda left the rookie hero feeling a bit disappointed; guy wasn't anywhere near as tough as he'd first appeared which would make for a far less interesting fight. And so rather than rushing in for another hit as the villain stumbled back, Cinder just calmly walked up toward him.
As the golem plucked the vehicle out from beneath him and swung it around toward her, Cinder just grinned at him. Barely offering any real effort, she waited until the last second and the flames around her shins intensified, a burst of intense heat blasting her a few feet to the to the side as the car smashed down on where she'd been a moment before. And she kept right on walking toward him without even breaking a stride. "Come on big guy, if you want to crush me you've actually got to hit me. You know, like this!" The instant the words left her mouth, the ground beneath Cinder exploded, flames launching her straight up toward the giant with a streak of red. In the blink of an eye she appeared right in front of him, a mass of fire gathering at her knee as she swung it up toward his gut and let the energy lose. A loud crack sounded out and a wave of intense heat washed over the street, making all the surfaces nearby glow red. The resulting blast sent her flying back, flipping gracefully through the air before touching down with a flourish about thirty feet back.
It was only then however, that she noticed the damage that had come from the villains attack, and the smile on her face began to fade. When the car hit the pavement the engine block had come free and went sailing through one of the nearby buildings, utterly destroying the second floor of a restaurant. And of course her backup was still a few more minutes out... With an irritated click of her tongue, the hero turned back to face the villain and then shouted over her shoulder to the student. "Change of plans, Red. If you're not in bad shape I need you to check for civilians in that building while I keep Rocks-for-Brains here occupied. You're under hero supervision, understand?" She added on the last bit, hoping the girl understood what it meant. Sure, it'd be on Cinder's head if she got hurt or screwed something up, but she couldn't look after civies and fight at the same time, and an extra (semi)trained quirk user was too valuable an asset to waste.

Yui nodded breathlessly, the hero needed her to step up and help. She pushed aside her own aches, pains and general feeling of awfulness. She had to see if there was anyone in danger, she needed to go beyond, plus ultra. She wanted to be a hero after all, that meant doing what must be done and not heading for the easy route. She pushed herself up and rushed over to the Restaurant. It would have been easier for her to get in there if she was able to use her Quirk. But so close to her limit, Yui did not wish to push her body any further. If she did, she would be putting herself in danger as well as any civilians that were there. She picked her way through the rubble, managing to enter the building. Her eyes widened at the sight of the injured terrified civilians. "It's okay." Yui declared, hating how her voice sounded like that of a scared teenager and not that of a hero. She took a deep breath. "I am here." There that sounded a bit more heroic. She started to get to work, helping get the civilians out of the building. "Don't worry everything is going to be alright."
The villain reeled from the beating, pausing to spit a gobbet of saliva onto the ground. He definitely seemed smaller than when he first started, his rock skin seemed to be less stone like. He was breathing hard now, but clearly appeared to be considering his next action. "You put up a good fight hero." He growled, whirling to pull out a lamppost and swing it as a club at her. "But I do not have time for games!" The villain roared, he was clearing hoping to swat her out of the way. He swung madly at her, with a desperate fury of one seeking both victory and to escape.

Cinder didn't hear a response from the student, but the sound of feet rushing off toward the battered structure proved answer enough for her. She nodded, thankful that the girl could at least take a little bit of the situation off her mind so she could focus on the fight, speaking of which... Cinder started forward with the same confident walk again as she watched the villain recover from her attack down the street. Credit where credit was due; this guy could take a hit. There weren't many who'd still be standing after taking a blow like that full force. Of course, she wasn't fighting at anywhere near full power; a fact that the man apparently hadn't quite caught onto yet, if his frankly embarrassing attempts at intimidation where any indication.
"Thanks, glad you think so. Sorry that I can't say the same about you." She didn't even bother igniting again as he tore the lamp post from the ground and swung it with all the grace of a baseball bat, simply timing her movements and hopping up over the makeshift weapon as it arced past. "Oh, we're done with games then? Could have fooled me, but alright. Guess it's time to stop playing around then." As the man brought the weapon around for another swing, the red aura of flames once again erupted out from her feathers and consumed her body, roaring out as they continued to grow in strength. Red turned to yellow, yellow to white, and white to a pale blue as the temperature of the flame grew higher and higher. With a rather bored expression she flicked her wrist out toward the incoming strike and a lance of blue flames raced out to meet it. An earsplitting snap split the air as the fire and metal met and the flames exploded. With the extreme heat softening the metal and making it start to melt, the force of the blow was enough to make it bend back and snap it in two, robbing it of enough reach that it passed harmlessly in front of the hero, who still advanced at a brisk walk.
"If we're done playing, then that means this is the last chance before I turn you into a pile of slag: Give. Up." She spoke as she came to a stop about eight paces from the man, red eyes glaring out from behind an aura of blue while the ground around her turned molten and liquefied. Even with his stone skin, there was no way this guy wasn't feeling the heat now, which meant it was time to see just how bad he was at making decisions.

The villain still held onto his now near useless weapon, though seemed to be breathing hard and his rock like skin seemed to sweating. There was a look of desperation in his eyes, but also grief and recognition of his failure. With a dull thud he dropped the weapon. "I yield hero." He said, his form finally returning to the size of a regular human, well built for sure but seemingly with a skin of pure stone. He said nothing else, gave no indication for his actions, no justification, no explanation. He left it at that, though raised his hands as if to further ensure that his surrender was understood.
Just then Yui came running up, she was breathless and ached all over. "Cinder!" She called out gasping. "There is a person trapped in the restaurant!" She blurted out, trying to get her breath back. "I cannot get them out." She glanced at the defeat villain, being sure to keep Cinder between her and him. Yui was not taking any chances, she remembered those rock her limbs around her. Plus she had taken the cars being thrown at her personally. Though there were more immediate concerns, there were people still in danger because of his actions, Cinder was still the only other hero here that Yui could see and thus the most lofical person to ask for aid.
She focused on the immediate problems rather than wondering just what UA High might have to say about her actions here today. They were a problem for another time, besides she would have to survive her parents' wrath first before any teacher, hero or villain could get their hands on her. Yui knew her parents, despite their encouragement for her to be a hero would be furious that she had placed herself in danger. But if not her who? Who would have saved the kid earlier? Who would have distracted the villain long enough for a hero to arrive? Somehow she doubted such argument might matter for her parents who would be more concerned about the fact that their child, their old child could have been seriously hurt... Or worse.
