[attr="class","goodbye"] NOTES Back and ready to post again! What a lovely end of the school day for the Headmaster. Alot had happened in her time spent mainly behind red tape and what happened with Walter. Their falling out had left a mark on her heart, but she decided to move past it regardless of how it came about. With Walter gone, she had been promoted to the position of Headmaster and soon had come into the role as if nothing had happened. At least, to the rest of the people nothing had happened. Her breathing was steady as she balanced on her forearms while her body had gone straight up. Her amber eyes had been closed while she concentrated on her body. She took great care not to let her quirk take more of her energy than necessary. While it wasn't always active, it still had a great drain upon her body to keep up with her everyday life. Life in the Takada household was not without a hearty meal three times a day with snacks a plenty in between. Her life with Kaito has been very pleasant and calm. Her relationship with Hideki has been a bit confusing, but for the time being she figured that focusing on work right now will do her some good. For the time being she had spent a good portion of her after-school doing training before going home to make dinner for Kaito and herself.
Today she wore a simple black tank top with a black sports bra under it. Her pants were also black with the logo for the Academy on the right pant leg. They tappered around her ankles so they didn't slip or get in her way. She was barefooted since she was just stretching and relaxing after a long day. She told Kaito to come by so they could go home together today. She hadn't heard anything back from Hideki if he wanted to eat dinner with them or not, so she just planned the usual three course dinner. Tsubame could put the professional eaters to shame with what she could put away at meal times. In and out her breathing was slow; a calming pace to bring peace the otherwise turbulent mind that was the Headmaster. Her silver-white hair was tied in a messy bun low and to the side, but a stray strand fell in the middle of her face. While her mind was stuck in thought, she kept her form and didn't notice how her body was starting to hurt. A soft beep was heard but not paid much attention to as the gear around her neck like a cat collar kept tabs on her vitals. Of course it was sending data to her phone, but she didn't pay much attention to it lately. If it didn't tell her she was in danger she tended to let it go further than it needed to to let her know she was in danger from her own quirk.
"What should we have for dinner....?" Tsubame mused out loud while she stretched and kept balance.

Post by Hyousuke Suzuki on Nov 29, 2021 20:08:40 GMT
Hyousuke couldn't tell how long it'd been since he'd faced off against Goliath. A week? Two? Maybe more? Everything since then, whether it was lessons, training, or just hanging around with his friends, had been a blur to him. Every time he tried to focus, thoughts of that night kept creeping back into his mind. The image of that bitter enemy of his lying broken on the ground, the pyre that had raged inside him as that crowbar had been lifted over his head... and the emptiness that had followed, when he'd realised what he'd been about to do.
Those thoughts had started to creep in once more, and even when he tried to remind himself of what Sigga had told him that day they'd sheltered from the rain, he couldn't stop them from wrapping his mind in a haze again. He needed to do something - anything - to keep himself from getting distracted again. Focussing whatever willpower he had left, he stuffed a few items in his gym bag, and headed out towards the school's training facility. Maybe he'd work off some stress on the robots. Maybe he'd see which simulations he could use to better himself. He didn't know what he wanted - only that he needed to get out and focus on something.
Bag slung over his shoulder, and dressed in nothing but a tank top, shorts, and trainers, Hyousuke barely even registered that there was someone else in there with him - and he only managed that when he was several feet past the threshold. And even then, it took him a few feet and a few glances more to actually recognise who it was. "Ms. Takada?" He said absent-mindedly, not even thinking before he spoke, simply acting on reflex. Suddenly, he snapped out of his reverie a little, his expression changing from a blank one to one of vague surprise. It was only a few moments later that he realised that he was actually supposed to follow it up with something.
"Hey, it's been a while!" He said, curling his lips up into as close an impression of a friendly smile as he could manage. "Sorry I didn't message you back sooner. With everything Lockon had me doing, I didn't have the chance." A sheepish smile and a similar kind of shrug followed. He wasn't lying to save face either - Lockon's reputation as a harsh (if extremely effective) teacher was well-deserved.

Kaito walked right on in the front doors with no problems. His card guaranteed that he would be allowed into UA, no problem, without their defense systems activated. The four foot six kid was only a middle school student, but with his "mother" being the vice headmaster of UA, it certainly allowed him a lot of leeway. Not that he took advantage of it often. The silver haired, dark skinned guy soon found his adopted mother, Tsubame Takada. As he was approaching her, a student walked by, addressing her after realizing she was there. The blonde gave his mother an awkward smile. As bad as he was with people, Kaito could muster a better smile than that.
The teenager simply walked up and moved to the side and a little behind Tsubame, with a close eye on her own movements. He didn't know if this was a personal visit or just a coincidence. Either way, he was fully prepared to leave. As the short boy listened, it seemed the blonde had meant to message Tsubame earlier, but hadn't had the chance due to working with a Pro Hero, Lockon. He'd heard of the guy, of course, but Kaito hadn't been all that interested in hero work. So far anyways. Not that he was disillusioned or anything, he just didn't see the appeal. Particularly with how many stupid press conferences or media coverage they had to do. Even UA staff gets called up on occasion for certain missions.
The yellowed student took out his gaming device and started to play it, barely paying any attention, more just to walk and keep track of his ride home than anything.

[attr="class","goodbye"] NOTES Back and ready to post again!
Tsubame had been taken out of her own thoughts of food when a familiar face came into view. Her body lowered to the floor slowly and then stood up bringing her to stretch her arms up tightly. An easy smile came to her lips as she looked upon the boy to whom she had tried to set some life lessons on previously. It was before, when she was the Vice Headmaster, and the youth had been caught fighting. While she couldn't quite punish him morally, since she too fought often when she went to UA as a kid, she did take matters into her own hands and try to work through some things with him through hand to hand combat training. Working with her body would clear her head so she always thought that it would work on others. With a hand on her hip she waved lightly at Hyousuke before noticing Kaito had walked in as well.
'It's good to see you again, Suzuki-kun!" Tsubame spoke with a calm, yet excitable, tone. Recent promotions brought her some levels of withheld emotions and thoughts. She had been busy in meetings, interviews, and plenty of red tape things to take over after Walter had left. Messages left for her were not answered till much later and some even she forgot about which led to plenty of very loud phone calls from her mother in angry French. "It's quite alright, mon gercon, i've been plenty busy as it was so I also must apologize for not getting back to you as well." Her smile was just as it was before, but there was a slight sadness to it now. She had felt Kaito go behind her and smiled at her son. "I've had Kaito-kun to keep me company in any case. Due to certain things happening I have become the Headmaster now and the former support teacher Hideki Masaru has become the Vice Headmaster. Lately i've had to cross lots of red tape and meetings to get settled." Tsubame walked over to Kaito and pet his head a bit before setting her backpack near him that held her snacks and gear. Mostly snacks, though.
"Oh, right, introductions. Suzuki-kun, this is my son Kaito. Kaito-kun, this is one of my students. I hope you both can become friends." Tsubame smiled warmly at Hyousuke and Kaito while petting Kaito's head lovingly. Regardless of her position as a teacher and Headmaster, she regarded all of the students like one of her own children.
"How have things been, Suzuki-kun, since last we seen each other? I hope you have been keeping out of trouble somewhat. I want to see what type of Hero you come to be," Tsubame grinned at the youth while she wiped down her sweaty face with a towel. As usual, she had a protein bar in hand at the ready from her backpack. Food was always at the ready for Tsubame. It makes staff meetings honestly a hoot when Tsubame brings in her current haul from the convenience store.

Hyousuke raised his hand briefly, flashing a polite - and somehow more genuine - smile at Kaito. A look of surprise had briefly crossed his face when Tsubame had mentioned her relation to Kaito, but that was mostly just from having the knowledge sprung on him so suddenly. He'd only heard the rumours about her in passing, after all, and had forgotten them the moment that he'd started thinking about something else. That aside, she hadn't finished speaking, and even someone as distracted and as lacking in smarts as him could tell that it wasn't exactly polite to wear such a look for the entire conversation. Perhaps he could ask about it later, when he was in a state to figure out a way to bring up the topic more delicately than by just blurting out that he didn't know she had a kid.
"You know me." He answered, giving her a weak smile as he did so. Whether that was because he'd had to force it, or because those past few weeks genuinely had tired him out, was up for debate. "I can't ever stay out of it." He laughed a little, playing the whole thing off as a joke. He'd decided to leave out the part where he had not only walked right into trouble, but had gotten into a fistfight with it and came away more shaken than he wanted to admit.
If he knew Tsubame, however, that grin meant she wasn't just looking for a joking remark about what he'd been up to in the interim. Fortunately for her, he needed the distraction, and the chance to face off against someone leagues above him. If that fight at the Sports Festival had taught him anything, it was that he had a long way to go - and he'd only get there by learning from those stronger than he. The bag was dumped unceremoniously onto the ground, and he fished out a pair of gloves. "How about I show you what kind of hero Lockon's teaching me to be?" He asked slyly. He wasn't much for words when his fists could do the talking, after all.

So, they evidently had meetings before. She went on a little bit about red tape of becoming the headmistress. He vaguely heard her say something about trying to stay out of trouble, and introducing them. He gave the guy a bored look and a simple nod. Kaito wasn't the social type. He...generally didn't like people. So he didn't say much. And again, just kind of stood there playing his game. Until a comment came up. "Hopefully more useful than Fletcher." It would barely be loud enough for even Hyousuke to hear. Seriously, the guy got taken down by a bunch of kids, punks mostly. The guy was an embarrassment to whatever Hero Agency he belonged to. Looking up slightly, he saw the hero student hold up a pair of gloves. Snorting, he asked a more serious question. "And what are those going to do against super powers?" Seriously, his claws and jaws could tear those things to pieces and he wouldn't even break a sweat. His tone was monotone, but also slightly condescending. Maybe it was too much to hope for that someone was teaching these guys to be useful heroes...

One look at Hyousuke and Tsubame could tell that something was going on with the boy, but she decided to let his actions speak for themselves. Despite having finished her own training for the day, she figured that a sparring session with a student, especially since it was Hyousuke, and ate her protein bar quickly while chugging a bottle of water. Water dripped down her mouth as she pulled the bottle away to flash her student a wicked grin. With amber eyes flashing, she went back to her gear and started to wrap her hands with athletic tape to help protect them. While her quirk did help her take damage, she could still be cut or harmed on the skin. It was just a lot harder to break her bones. The feeling of sparring with Hyousuke again sent a surge of adrenaline through her body as she felt her quirk ripple. The vital gear at her neck started to beep steadily as her body started to eat away at the energy in her body once more. Her movements were precise and sly like a cats as she set her bottle of water down. It wasn't until she heard Kaito reply to Hyousuke that she frowned at her son. She had thought she had taught him by now, but it seems the boy wasn't quite getting it.
"Kaito-kun, you don't need superpowers to be a hero, nor do you need to be the toughest in the room," Tsubame adopted her teacher voice to her motherly one and finished wrapping her hands to then stand in front of the two boys. She smiled and pointed at her chest with her pointer finger. "You just gotta have the heart for it and the will to do what is right when things are wrong. Even when I am at my weakest I still strive to do what is right and protect what is important to me. Understand, mon fils chéri?" The French words for 'my darling son' fell off her tongue like a small song. The former pro-hero stretched before she stood at the ready in front of Hyousuke. Her eyes were set on the boy and she showed that he had her full and undivided attention.
"Show me who you are going to be, Suzuki-kun," Her amber eyes flashed with excitement as she felt the animalistic part of herself want to spring into action already. However, she would let Hyousuke take the first step forward. "Don't hold back, okay?"

"Besides," Hyousuke added, slipping the pair of black, fingerless fighter's gloves on, "These are just for training. They're not actually part of my costume." Coming in, he'd not even been sure if he'd wanted to put on his hero costume, or just stick to his outfit and let off some steam by beating a hole into a punching bag. The gloves he'd put on, accompanied by the short and sharp sound of velcro being ripped off, would never see any serious combat. Not unless the villains he was fighting had particularly violent allergic reactions to inexpensive leather, anyway.
With the straps tightened, his gumshield gripped tight between his teeth, and his focus honed in on the school's head, he rolled his shoulders and stepped forward to face her properly. And though he didn't realise it at first, the funk he'd worked himself into on the way over had started to wear off, the clouds in his mind gradually beginning to drift and clear. He didn't know whether it was her fired-up attitude being infectious, or him being getting excited at the thought of losing himself in a brawl again, but one thing was for certain - he was raring to go from the very second she'd finished speaking.
He didn't say anything in response, just smiling sharply and raising his fists into position, before darting forward. Like usual, he kept his fists up and his stance down, forming a tight guard and smaller target. But there was something different about his movements from the last time they'd scrapped. He wasn't charging wildly, not like before. Savage though the expression he bore was, every step he took was made deliberately, with a sharp and focussed look to his eyes as he dashed towards his teacher, like a predator glancing over its prey to see where it was weakest.
But there was more to it than even that. His footwork was quicker, his limbs more fluid. Every movement he made was more efficient than when they'd last met, down to even the slightest twitch of his arms as they shifted about with every step he took towards Tsubame. Nowhere was it clearer than in the first left-handed jab he threw. His punch was like a bullet - quick, clean, and precise, driving straight towards her face.

Kaito didn't even look up from his game. "Heart and will don't mean a thing if you aren't the toughest in the room, or the strongest, or the smartest, or the most skilled. You don't have to have all four, just one is enough. Otherwise, you'll lose." He did give the blonde a tiny nod in understanding. He certainly hoped so. Otherwise the guy would have a hard time against anyone with them. Plopping himself down, he watched with only a tiniest of interest. His mother was absolutely ready to get into it. Even wanting this guy to make the first move.
The blonde was smiling sharply. Was he a battle lunatic? Fights were hardly ever fun...he did like Aikido, and good enough at it. Luckily, he only ever had to use it maybe four times since he started learning. Hyousuke darted forward, fists up and stance down. If it was Kaito, he'd jump over the guy. Predictably, he did a punch to the face. Well, this might be over quicker than he thought. That would be nice...he did have a little bit of homework to get done.

Tsubame had sighed. It seems she has much to teach Kaito when it comes to being a hero. Tsubame would not push him to become a hero, only to be able to use his quirk for good and be able to protect himself. However, she did wish that he would understand that heroes are not just tough people; they were those that strove to do good regardless of the consequences. It was his last sentence that struck her more. To lose. Surely she has suffered her own losses and one that nearly killed her, but they always made her stronger in the end once she overcame them. She smiled kindly at Kaito before looking slightly sad while clutching her stomach where the four claw marks are. "I believe someone needs to lose....to be at their lowest.....to truly see themselves and work to be stronger in all ways. Losing isn't bad. It just makes for a way for you to move forward by learning." Her hands moved from her stomach to clench in front of her with a grin; the fire was lit in her eyes once more as she viewed Hyousuke.
She watched as Hyousuke made his move towards her. Straight forward like usual. She was happy to see that he still had that fire within him. For Tsubame, to fight was to show a fighters soul. Fists were words of poetry or even lines in a computer code to make up a bigger picture. For a split second she wanted to go all out against her student but suppressed that in leu of trying to see how he progressed. So far, gone was the boy with reckless abandon throwing punches at random hoping one will hit. This pleased Tsubame to see such growth within him. She felt her blood surge while the first part of her quirk activated in defense of not moving against a threat. Once his punch connected, she stood straight up still while her bones condensed. There was an audible crack as the impact came into contact with her body. She felt nothing, but the energy loss was palpable. She'll move than likely have a bruise later, though. She took this opportunity to take the opening that had given itself when she let herself get punched. Quickly as can, she would wrap her left hand around his wrist to pull Hyousuke forward and give her right arm elbowed straight towards his face.

Hyousuke hadn't expected her to take it head-on. He'd not been sure whether she'd block, dodge, or do something else entirely, but her action caught him by surprise, and that split second was all that was needed for her to latch onto his wrist and draw him in, her elbow striking straight towards his head. She wasn't the only one that had tried something similar on him, though. He wasn't as skilled as Lockon - and he wasn't even close to the level of his old teacher - but that week of training that the pro had given Hyousuke had helped hone his reflexes even further than before.
What was more, he hadn't just become quicker and more fluid in his movements. He'd gotten smarter. His free arm drew up and folded beside his head while he moved to one side, using the momentum of that to wrench his hand free while he moved away from the brunt of her attack. He wasn't quick or precise enough to evade it complete, even if she'd not been holding him. But moving had lessened the damage, and his arm took what remained. It was a small victory, but a far cry from the boy that would have thrown himself at a brick wall in an attempt at beating it in a brawl.
Though he didn't spare Kaito a glance, Hyousuke gave a response - a brief one, so as not to distract from the fight. "And sparring isn't about winning either." He resolved to explain further, if Tsubame or his fists didn't say it for him - that it was as much a lesson as it was a test. With a spirit as competitive as his, it'd taken Hyousuke far too long to realise for himself that he wasn't there to win against people who outclassed him several times over. Hell, it'd taken Lockon quite literally beating some sense into him to have that revelation - that every fight was a lesson he could draw from, and become stronger through.
He'd not come to the training grounds to philosophise, though. He could lecture the boy later on - Tsubame was his priority. Leaping back into the fray with a grin, he kept himself limber, aggressively pushing forward with rapid, powerful blows. With his Quirk, he'd never needed to worry about wasting energy overexerting himself, but his technique had suffered for it, turning him into something of a flailing madman. His technique had been flawed, his footwork imprecise. But the time he'd spent learning from both those around him - Lockon especially - showed the potential that lay beneath.
His technique still needed work, but there was no denying that the potential was there. An unrelenting flurry of straights, hooks, and uppercuts, though none were delivered in haste. Every blow was deliberate, every strike aimed. And with a bottomless well of stamina to draw from, it wouldn't stop until Tsubame forced it to.

"Depending on the circumstances sure. But it should depend on the circumstances. It cannot be a do or die one...where losing is not an option. That is when a hero truly shines." Or dies trying. He neglected to say. Kaito did scoff at Hyousuke though. "It's to get better or to teach someone. I know the purpose of it. I take Aikido lessons regularly, we do that all the time." And it was fun. He quite enjoyed learning the art. Even if he was a little bit of an outcast there too, due to his personality. Although his instructors were impressed how he taught a few of his classmates, and where they could improve. And how well he took criticism. It was mostly that he was so hard to read that most people thought he had resting bitch face on all the time.
So he ignored the actual scuffle from then on, just keeping his elf like ears perked up in case they addressed him or something. It always bored him to watch fights. Sparring or otherwise. Granted, he wasn't afraid to jump in if he had to. But luckily that wasn't very often. Particularly since he'd taken down a couple of punks at school already, and haven't had any issues since.

There was fire within the boy. It pleased her to see him have come so far from the last time she had seen him. It was like night and day. Tsubame made a mental note to visit the hero that seemed to change Hyousuke and thank them. He had blocked the strike from Tsubame. She had let go of his arm quickly to go on the defensive as the boy let lose a flurry of blows against her. A big grin lit her face as she blocked and ducked from each one. It wasn't a secret she could have done more in the spar, but she meant for this to be for him to show her what he learned and what path he wanted to go down. A few of the blows she caught and others she redirected past her. Her density quirk shut off when there was no threat of having harm to her body and instead the animalistic more athletic side of her came out. She moved like a cat does: precise, but smoothly from stance to stance. In the back of her mind, she knew that when Hyousuke reached his potential, he would be harder to spar with. Her weakness was time, the ever-present enemy of the headmaster and former pro-hero. Her quirk allowed her enhanced athletics and also allowed her a high defense. It was something she indeed did love having since she was ever the free spirit in her everyday life as well as when she fought. However, the downside of her quirk was what weighed heavily upon her life itself. Her body ate so many calories while using her quirk that she had to constantly replenish them. Stamina was never her forte, so she made up for it with being precise in her movements and strikes as well as trying to end fights early. The vital gear around her neck steadily beeped as it kept track of her vitals and caloric levels within her body. Once she hit a certain threshold for the lowest she can go before medical intervention, it would send out an SOS to her emergency contact and alert the nearby medics to come intervene.
Tsubame wanted to mix this up a bit. If the boy was so precise now, she wondered what would happen if she just loosened up his footing a bit. With a mischievous grin upon her face, she dodged another blow towards her and immediately dropped to the ground in a crouch. Smoothly she shot her leg out to do a sweep towards his legs to try and trip him up.

Lockon had trained Hyousuke well. The power he'd built up had started to become more precisely applied, his movements quicker and smoother than before. But even so, he was still green, and Tsubame's sudden shift in stance was enough to catch him out. His instincts tore him two ways, with old habits telling him to stand his ground and block it, while the smarter - and better-trained - side of him demanded that he back off and dodge the strike, even if it meant relenting on the pressure he'd been applying to Tsubame. With both sides screaming, he made his decision to shift back a split second too late, and her kick caught him by the shins.
He stumbled. He staggered. For a moment or two, he looked as though he was going to fall. But he regained his footing just as quickly as he'd lost it, shifting back into his stance. It was a basic one, to be sure - but simplicity was its strength. His old teacher had taught it to let him stay balanced and flexible, able to react to whatever was thrown his way without wasting movements. And, under Lockon's tutelage, those strengths had begun to flourish. More strikes were levelled at her, probing for a weakness, or simply trying to brute force one - until, out of nowhere, his leg lashed upwards into a vicious roundhouse to her leg.
