The four foot six silver haired boy that was Kaito Takada roamed his school, just looking for a place of quiet. The darker toned child of a hero moved around his classmates effortlessly, almost desperately searching for solitude. He normally didn't mind a library, but it wasn't his first choice. He spent enough time there from studying. Luckily, he was all caught up with his studies. Still, everywhere he went were loud, obnoxious people worshiping heroes. Some even already deciding to go that route. He wasn't so convinced himself. Despite the role models he had for the profession. Walking into the library since it was the only choice he had, the teenager scanned the place with his yellow eyes. Not a soul. Sort of. He was hearing voices. Following them, he found three boys at a fair distance away from another. They sounded like they were teasing the boy...but maliciously. If it was all in good fun, Kaito might have joined in. But it clearly wasn't. Stomping loudly, he startled the three bullies. One harsh stare, and the boys go running.
Pathetic. And what hypocrites! These were the same ones that would try to become heroes...and yet their actions were more like that of villains. He half wondered if any heroes were around, how they would react to such people that idolized them. Would they condemn them? Or celebrate them? Or be indifferent? Kaito just looked at the other boy briefly before walking towards a table. Sitting down, he would arrange his area so it wouldn't be obvious that he was playing his handheld gaming system.

Kota had been enjoying a wonderful day at the library. He had just finished the title that Asahi had given him, and he loved the book, so he began to look in the section of the same genre. After an hour of searching and looking at titles, the first few pages, and the blurbs they put on the sides of the books, he had selected over fifteen new novels to put on his reading list. Unfortunately, he could only carry three around without getting very tired, so that was how many he checked out. He was reading happily until two kids came over and started to poke fun at him.
At first the words seemed to be playful, to mean no harm, but after many attempts of trying to get a response from Kota they started to get a lot more aggressive. Kota curled up in his seat. The kids had began to yell at him, demanding that he say something. Suddenly, a loud thumping noise to the side of them sounded throughout the room. Kota and the bullies jumped. There was another kid, he had white hair covering one of his eyes. He had medium to olive skin, and sharp eyes that yelled "authority". The bullies scampered away, leaving Kota alone. He caught a quick glimpse from the other kid looking at him before wandering away to another table not too far from him.
Kota wasn't sure what to do. That kid had just scared away two bullies who were being mean to Kota, and he was very grateful for that! He wanted to walk over there and become besties with him. But at the same time, the kid seemed a bit scary and a tad bit lofty. What if Kota went over there and he was mean back to him, or would be annoyed of his presence? Kota shook his mind free of his doubting thoughts, they didn't make any sense anyways. He decided a simple thank you would have to do, maybe a small icebreaker in there to get acquainted. He grabbed a slip of paper and pencil from his pocket and wrote out a message.
"Hi, my name is Kota. Thank you for making those two kids go away, they were being kind of rude to me. I mean, you obviously know, because you scared them off, but... yeah." There was a little stutter, a tiny gap in his writing that unintentionally signified any kind of filler word. "What's your name?"
With that, he very quickly strutted over to where the other kid was sitting and set down the note beside him, then sat down at the seat across from him, waiting for an answer. The table was big enough that the other kid was out of his quirk's distance, but maybe fate would tell him otherwise. Crossing his fingers under the table, he waited for something to happen.

Kaito kept playing. Of course, he kept his volume off, as to be respectful around. What he didn't really expect was the return of the guy he had just saved, using a paper with a name and a thanks. And a question. The blonde strutted over to the opposite side and sat down. Was the guy mute? That was fine, he really didn't care. "I'm Kaito Takada." He was quiet, in respect to the library. He didn't really have much more to say. He often didn't like people. Or dealing with them. Looking at the blonde, he did ask a question. "What about you?" Kaito's voice was monotone, and his face was stoic. Pretty standard for the ninja kid.
Of course, he didn't know if Kota knew the rumors surrounding him. It would be hard not to hear of them. Even he's heard some of them. Between people trying to find out more about his quirk, or find out that he turns into a water demon and spreads that one, and there was also the fact that the Headmistress of UA was his mother. The question would be how Kota reacted. Wallflowers hear everything.

Kota blinked. It seemed a little bit as if Kaito didn't want to talk to him. That was okay, because Kota didn't really want to either, or at least for very long. Just a few more questions than he would leave him alone. Kota was just a bit curious about how those kids were scared of Kaito, he didn't seem bigger or more threatening. If something like a rumor or event was going around, Kota probably hadn't heard about it. He really did spend a lot of time in his hideout...
He took back the paper he had given to Kaito and turned it over to write on the backside. As he wrote, his words were a little wobbly, indicating the slightest bit of hesitation. "Oh, I'm Kota, but I thought I said that already. It seems like you don't really want to talk to me, and that's okay, but if you'll allow me I only have a few more questions, and then you can get back to your game. Speaking of, what are you playing is the first question, and my second is why were those jerks scared of you? Not to press on, but I'm just a bit curious." He then slid that to Kaito and slunk back to his seat at the other side of the table. He didn't want his quirk to interfere with what he might say next.

Kaito thought maybe the guy had ran off until he looked up and saw him writing again. Was the guy mute? The silver haired boy was given another piece of paper, introducing the guy as Kota. If Kaito could laugh, he probably would. Instead, he just gave a sliver of a smile. "If I wanted you gone, I'd have said so. I'm playing Genshin Impact Five. And those villain wannabes? You must not pay much attention to the rumor mill. My quirk makes me a monster. Which is true, it is called Youkai. And my mother is the new headmistress of UA. Add in the fact that I've already dealt with a few punks like that already, and I'm that weird loner kid that can and will kick anyone that crosses me in the teeth." Even with his monotone voice, his disdain for those hypocrites showed immensely. Still, he observed the kid in front of him, seeing how he reacted to this information.
Though the use of paper did intrigue his interest, if only slightly. He found most people annoying as all hell. Was the guy just that shy that he didn't want to talk at all? That was mildly cute (but only mildly!)...but he also had a gut feeling that wasn't the case. After all, here he was, trying to "talk" to the loner kid. "Too shy to speak? Or is there another reason you prefer text messaging?" Even if it was written out instead of on a phone.

Kota's heart thumped hard inside his chest when he heard the word "monster." Kaito's quirk seemed really scary... plus he was probably right about Kota not hearing any rumors, because he didn't even know who he was prior to the library. Kota swallowed down his sudden fears. Kaito used his authority to help others like Kota, and that was what mattered. Kota sat up a little bit straighter and took back his paper to write his response on it.
"Well, your quirk sounds... interesting in more ways than one, it's definitely useful. I guess just don't use it for the wrong things, which you aren't... anyways. Geishin Impact is a nice game, although I haven't really played it. And yes, I'm mute, plus my quirk makes an aura of quiet around me, so one way or the other I can't talk... I hope that's okay."
With that he passed the note back over to Kaito. Kota was growing fond of Kaito by the minute, and he hoped that maybe they could get a little more acquainted, despite him wanting to talk minimally a minute before.

Kaito rose an eyebrow at the page. The body language seemed to match...sudden stiffening up of the spine, then relaxed as if comfortable. Due to his actions earlier...this kid actually thinks before making assumptions. "More so in water. I can't keep my quirk active for very long, but its power increases when I'm wet or in the water. It's often compared to a Kappa or other water demons. Don't discount your own quirk either. Sure, it's not one that is particularly useful in hero work, but in other situations...that would be very nice. Especially if you try to train it so you can turn it off or on, or even extend its reach..." A tiny, mischievous grin was plastered on Kaito's face. Oh how funny would that be in class? And how useful it would be to just suddenly cut someone off or even just to make everything quiet in a small room when you're trying to read or enjoy a game.
Just like that, the bell rang. Glaring at the irritating device, Kaito saved and packed up. Looking back at Kota, Kaito spoke. "After school, the east gate by the tree with a bench underneath it. I'll be there. Let's chill together." With that, he left. Hopefully the guy would be there too. He wasn't annoying like others that tried to befriend him in the past. Nor was Kota interested in UA or anything else hero related. The blonde literally just wanted to thank him and...maybe get to know him? At the least, Kota wasn't scared of him nor interested in his hero mother.

Kota listened to Kaito from the other side of the table. There was a bit to unpack about Kaito's quirk, but he didn't care in the moment. He was excited about the invitation he had gotten to sit under the east gate tree with Kaito! Kota nodded with a warm smile, utter delight smeared across his face. He got up out of his seat and nodded again, grabbing his backpack and heading out the door to his next class. He could barely wait.
*spongebob narrator voice* ~ A few hours later ~
The final bell had rang, and Kota was out the door the minute he heard it. He navigated his way through the halls until he walked out the doors to be greeted by sunlight streaming into his eyes. He winced and covered his eyes with his hands. Now with a better view, he found the tree and walked over to it, hoping Kaito would be there.

Kota gave Kaito a warm smile and a nod, and off they went to their respective classes. The look stirred something in the young lad. And he wasn't sure what.
~
Kaito was sitting down where he said he would be, playing a different game. He might have sneaked out early, because why not. Besides, the teacher was boring him to pieces. Looking up every so often, he waited to see a familiar blonde. It didn't take long. Seemed Kota was eager meet him here. "Sup. Anywhere in particular you'd like to go?" The brown skinned boy jumped up, saving his spot and putting his game away. He was more or less fine with anything. When they started walking, he'd ask a question he meant to ask earlier too. "What's the range on your quirk? Clearly not very long considering it still wasn't activating in the library for as close as they were. But it would just make easier communicating too. "Also, what's your phone number, assuming you have a cell phone?" Hopefully, maybe? Kota did seem to prefer writing it down. Though for quick communication, that may be a bit too cumbersome.
