| Rapid. Rhythmic. Powerful. The sound of Hyousuke’s gloves impacting against the bag rang out into the warm air of the school’s gym, itself laced with the distinct, odorous smell of sweat. The pounding of his fists struck yet another beat out against the rest of the training area’s cacophony - from those sparring and working at pads, to the steady clanking and metallic clicks of those hauling weights. It was a bevy of noise that Hyousuke had long since learned to ignore, and instead just lose himself in what he was doing, and that alone.
It was therapeutic, in its own way. He didn’t have to think about dealing with anyone else, or concern himself with thinking about much more than what he wanted to practise. He could just immerse himself in his own little world for a little while, and forget what troubles waited for him outside. It was just him, his gloves, and a sack of sand suspended from the ceiling. Teeth grit and eyes focussed squarely on it, his fists were a blur, hammering into it in a fluid, well-practised combination. |

Jun had been jogging for an hour and a half, all the while watching another blond pound into a punching bag. Rapidly. He recognized the guy somewhat...Hyousuke Suzuki. No relation to their resident house cat. They say the guy used to run with a group of wannabe delinquents, and he did fit the bill. The five foot five blond didn't like just punching a dummy...it didn't do him any good. No practice of actual skills. Just too mindless for his liking. Both Jun and his twin brother always practiced their new techniques on each other, learned from their father. Despite his forced break from hand to hand combat techniques, he had bounced back pretty well, his father complimenting him about it.
This guy didn't show any real skill...so you couldn't really judge based on what the guy was doing. Hyousuke was taller than Jun, and much more well muscled, where Jun was much more average looking...some would even say slim and innocent looking. He did admire the taller boy's focus...if the green eyed teenager didn't have headphones on, he would have snapped at everyone for being so loud. Still, he was done and was resting first. He hadn't practiced his hand to hand much...maybe this guy could help? Besides, maybe he'd gain a new friend, or at least a regular sparring partner.
After another half hour of resting and drinking water, the boy walked up with an extra, unopened water bottle. "Quirk or not, you should probably take a small break. Here. I'm Jun, by the way..." He held out a water bottle to the guy. Jun was clad in a green T-shirt and black shorts.

WORD COUNT 183
| Hyousuke took the bottle with a slight nod, and drained a few squirts into his open mouth - taking care not to press his lips to it, lest he get his drool all over someone else's bottle, or get backwash into it. "Hyousuke." He said, smiling slightly, and handing the bottle back. He didn't seem to have been affected by the stint of training he'd done - save for the shine of the sweat clinging to his skin, and the redness of his knuckles hidden under his gloves, he looked barely any different from when he started. He'd not even lost a little breath in the process.
"It's probably fine though." He said, waving his hand a little as if to dismiss the notion. "I've done this before, it's no big deal." Even so, he decided that there probably wouldn't be any harm in taking a few moments away from the bag. Annoyed though he was that he was being taken away from what was essentially meditation for him, he supposed that he should at least try to make friends. He was supposed to be getting a fresh start at UA, after all, rather than being that rough, reckless, and angry child that he was before. "So, what brings you here?" He asked, trying to make idle conversation. "Working on anything in particular?" |

"Even so, push yourself too hard too fast and you'll end up doing more harm than good. By the way, I got that from the vending machine..." He pointed at the vending machine for water and handed the used bottle back to Hyousuke. Then the guy asked what he was doing here. "I was on the treadmill for a while. Plus kind of scoping out if there was anyone vaguely familiar or I've heard somewhat about around to see if they're okay with a little hand to hand training...my dad would freak if he found out how much I've been slacking on that..." Jun rubbed the back of his neck and giggled nervously. "Even so, you're the only one I've at least heard of, and I thought you were in the same class as me? Class 1-A? There's a lot of blondes in class..." While he was generally okay at connecting faces with names, Hyousuke apparently didn't stand out that much. And with how unsociable, but approachable, Jun was, he doubted the guy recognized him either. Even if Jun was a bit on the cute side.
"Punching a sandbag is good and all, but if you want to get better at close range combat, what's better than a live opponent?" Jun was very...average, even a bit on the slim side, though he naturally fast and had good reflexes, he was pretty fragile. What he also had was training from a former JSDF and police officer. So there was that to take into account. Still, it should be fun to throw around another student for a little bit...or even be thrown around himself. Jun and his twin brother used to do that all the time.

WORD COUNT 212
| The fact that it was from a vending machine didn't make things much better to Hyousuke. Knowing that, he felt like he owed Jun - even if it was just pocket change, he wouldn't let himself be in debt to someone like that, and resolved to buy him a drink from there when next he was able. Or when he took a break, given how close it was, and how trivial it would be to just get the same bottle out of there. Nevertheless, having not touched more than his fingers to it, Hyousuke handed the bottle back, having not needed much out of it in the first place.
Training with Jun was the least he could do to pay it back. In fact, Jun was doing him a favour yet again - Hyousuke was going to try and rope someone into fighting with him anyway, and that proposal saved him the hassle of seeing if they were available or not. He nodded curtly, rolling his shoulders to try and relieve any tension that was still in them, and looked briefly towards the ring. "Can't deny that. Sandbags can't fight back - can't say I've practised properly until I've tested myself against someone that can. So, how you want to do this? Quirks, or no?" |

Hyousuke was open to the idea. Jun put both water bottles down. "Preferably no quirks...my own is primarily ranged based anyways, so kind of counter to what I want to work on." He got some basic safety pads for the two of them. After putting on his set, Jun walked into the ring. He could already hear murmurs. People betting on which one will win. Many of them seemed to be betting against the smaller boy. But it was whatever. "How do want to do this? Knockdowns, submissions, etc.? First to three points wins? Want any rewards involved or just bragging rights?" It didn't matter much to him. He could handle any prize that the guy was likely to think up. So long as it didn't involve anything lewd or disgusting. He doubted he would...Hyousuke didn't seem like that kind of person.
Relaxed, Jun waited in the guy's answer. And then would wait on him to make the first move. Jun's style in close quarters was more reactionary than proactive. Hyousuke seemed to be the type to stay on the offensive. But this was all just guesses at this point.

| "A prize?" Hyousuke pondered it for a moment, but shrugged his shoulders dismissively. "I'm just happy to be fighting, I don't need anything to make this more interesting. If you're insisting though, how about the loser buys the other coffee? Doesn't seem like it's too bad a deal." Even if one of them went for something expensive, he wagered that it probably wouldn't run him more than what he usually spent on drinks in a week. It'd hurt his pride more than his wallet if he lost that way, but at least it was a prize both of them could enjoy.
He gave Jun a moment or two to prepare while he readied himself, settling into his usual stance. Feet apart, arms up, one hand in front of the other. A fairly standard kickboxing stance - orthodox, but reliable. Then, with startling speed for someone as built as him, Hyousuke bolted forward. He was like a bull - a solid wall of muscle, barrelling forward at Jun with a wild look in his eyes. The moment he was in range, he lashed out with sharp - if slightly weakened - left jabs. Nothing intended to hurt, more to test Jun's reactions. They were fluid and well-practised, the result of countless hours of training, but they were basic and imprecise. Like he wasn't really trying to hit anything in particular. |

Jun shrugged. "I'm fine with that." Hyousuke gave Jun a few moments to prepare, and the smaller blond was ready whenever Hyousuke was. The taller blond went into a kickboxing stance. So the guy had some training. But how practical was it? The wall of muscle rushed forward, starting with a left handed jab. A test. Jun dodged to the left, grabbing Hyousuke's left elbow. With his other hand, Jun grabbed the shirt at the guy's sternum and used his own momentum to flip the guy over his shoulder. Jun doubted the taller boy would be able to land on his feet or anything of the like. If he didn't, and landed on his back, Jun would drive a fist downward towards the guy's face, only to stop just before contact, and promptly back off.
If Hyousuke got into a sitting position immediately, Jun would do an open palmed strike at the right side of Hyousuke's head to stun him. Then go into a roundhouse kick to the left side of the head before backing off.
Either way, the murmurs would circulate at how the smaller, unassuming, if cute, boy was able to flip a much larger guy over himself and onto the mat. Never underestimate this chibi blonde boi! Though something nagged at the back of his mind that this sure as hell wasn't all Hyousuke had...that wild look...he definitely thrived in a fight. Hopefully, Hyousuke will give him everything he had, or this was going to be a very disappointing fight.

WORD COUNT 242
| One moment he was barrelling forward, the next he was sailing towards the floor. Hyousuke wasn't sure how he'd been tossed around so easily by someone so small, but at the very least, he recognised that he was falling, and reacted as best he could. His arms hit the ground before him to break his fall - and the moment that he could, he threw his arms up to protect his head. His instincts were right - Jun had gone straight for his face, though had stopped just short of driving a blow straight into the hastily-assembled guard he'd thrown together.
"Come on," Hyousuke grunted, leaping onto his feet, seemingly no worse for wear. "I can take it. Don't have to pull your punches like that." True, it was only a sparring session, but it seemed like someone forgot to deliver Hyousuke the memo. The look in his eyes was a wild one, fuelled by a surge of adrenaline that coursed through his veins. He didn't wait for a reply - the instant he'd finished speaking, Hyousuke bolted forward again, hands in front of his face, but his stance lower. Something to make him a little harder to hit as he pulled out the stops, and lashed out again.
The jab he threw out was sharper, more vicious - something intended to stun Jun and leave him open to something bigger. His right followed a split second after, tearing through the sweat-tinged air at Jun's face. |

The taller blond responded quickly, putting up his arms in defense, fast enough where even if Jun hadn't stopped, he would have blocked it. And had some words to say.
"If you say so..." Which he probably could...Jun was pretty average in strength for a guy his size, he wondered if the guy remembered that it was just a sparring match. Though Jun had to react immediately, deflecting the first jab, and had to take a step back and duck to narrowly avoid the second punch, though it probably brushed through hair. With his right arm, Jun aimed a punch to the gut. Then aimed another punch to the lower ribs before backing off. If Hyousuke came at him again, Jun would aim a kick to the shin to interrupt any kind of counter attack and put him hopefully on a knee. A quick hop and dart around, Jun then aimed a chop to the back of the neck.
Jun seemed calm and cool, very unlike his wild and almost animistic opponent. The guy seemed like a former delinquent to him. Well, at least he'll make Jun earn his victory...assuming it will be a victory, it certainly seemed like he won't make it easy.

WORD COUNT 221
| The first strike to his gut, Hyousuke tensed against. It wasn't pleasant, sure, but he was used to it. It was going to take a lot more than that to put him down. Theshot against his ribs, he wasn't expecting. He grit his teeth against the pain - tough though he was, that spot was sensitive, and it took all he had not to wince against it. The shin, though - the shin was a mistake. The shin was part of how he guarded against kicks, and it was going to take someone stronger than Jun to sweep him so easily. Hyousuke's leg lifted quickly, catching the blow between where his foot and his shin connected, making it glance almost harmlessly off.
Hyousuke wasn't quick - he was made for endurance. But he could at least react to Jun moving around. Planting his foot back down while he turned, he found himself staring that chop head-on. He could block it - but at the same time, he knew he could take it. It'd probably hurt, but if he could get a bigger hit on Jun while he was open, Hyousuke considered it fair. A grunt escaped past clenched teeth as he took the strike, both from the pain, and from effort as he launched a counter - a sharp right bodyshot, homing in on his side. |

Both strikes found their mark, but it wasn't enough to take him down. Hyousuke demonstrated a good deal of balance in lifting his leg so that his kick would instead hit the man's ankle slide away. It was a neat trick he didn't know about. The other boy reacted well, moving his body to attack, instead of defending against his chop. Considering how fragile Jun was, it was actually probably the best move he could have made. While chop did hit the man's face, it did force Jun to do a hope and spin away from the incoming punch. It did manage to graze his left side, making the smaller boy wince. He could already feel the bruise forming there. It was clear to Jun that Hyousuke was willing to take damage in order to dish some out.
And that put Jun on edge. He wasn't sure he could out damage the larger boy. Even more so since he could likely four to five shot him if those were good, solid hits and not grazes like before.
Taking a few steps back, Jun watched Hyousuke for a minute. Maybe the best offense was a good defense in this particular case. So he'd wait and see what the other guy would do next. Though he was already being predictable.
If Hyousuke charged him again with a punch, he'd dodge to the outside, grabbing wrist, then grabbed the back of the boy's head, and use his weight to force the guy down. And do the apprehending technique his dad showed him. And what's commonly seen on cop shows everywhere.

WORD COUNT 241
| Seeing Jun stand and wait while on guard should've had Hyousuke wondering if he was up to something. Jun had shown that he could toss a charging Hyousuke around like a particularly weighty ragdoll, after all, and it would certainly have been wise to approach with caution. However, Hyousuke was not the sort to exercise such a thing unless it was beaten into him. Emboldened by the knowledge of how hard he could hit compared to Jun - and how much he thought Jun could take - Hyousuke once again bolted forward, keeping his hands up and his stance low. Given how tall and broad he was, it was unlikely to make him much harder a target to hit, but it'd at least make him harder to hurt.
As soon as he was close enough, he lashed out with another left straight, aiming to make Jun flinch, or to at least brute force his way past whatever guard was put up. It was to be his downfall, though - that jab gave Jun ample opportunity to grab his wrist. Between the momentum of charging forward and the skill Jun showed, Hyousuke couldn't stop himself from toppling to the floor, but he wasn't going to go down without a fight. His right hand reached out, grabbing for anything - a limb, clothing, whatever he could grasp - to haul Jun to the ground with him. If he was going down, he was taking his opponent with him. |

It seemed Jun's choice was the right one. As predicted, Hyousuke charged. But the larger boy wasn't going to go down alone. A more skin tight attire might have saved the smaller blond. But the guy got lucky, and grabbed the sleeve of Jun's T-shirt on his left arm. And promptly slammed him on the ground next to the larger boy. Despite the pain, Jun tried to latch onto the arm, and attempted to tangle his legs to put a strangle hold on Hyousuke, hoping to cut off his oxygen supply enough for him tap out. Though he kind of doubted it...Hyousuke seemed more than a little bull headed. Almost a typical all brawn and no brain type of guy. Effective, but not always ideal. And without quirks, Jun couldn't capitalize on this as much as he normally would. His lightning half would have a field day in this type of close quarters brawl.
Due to the awkwardness of the strangle hold, and his own relatively average strength, Jun could be peeled off. And his own light weight, probably even lifted while still attached. It wouldn't be easy, but could be achieved. It was all dependent on how Hyousuke's brain thought. As fun as this was, it was also a bit worrisome. Jun never had to get that rough with Riku, and vice versa, so this was more than a little new.

WORD COUNT 257
| Hyousuke thrashed and struggled, coming close to simply flinging himself around the floor in his desperation to escape Jun's grasp. Hyousuke had the obvious advantage when it came to strength - he was bigger, heavier, and had more training in that area. If he had the right footing, he suspected he could probably toss Jun. But with the both of them on the ground, and Jun having the upper hand, Hyousuke was forced to go on the defensive, and try to minimise whatever damage was inflicted on him. Once more, he threw his hands up to protect his face - and missed Jun's legs going for a stranglehold.
One arm jerked towards him, but he hadn't expected it to be grabbed - and didn't bring it any closer to his head. The other arm blocked Jun's legs from locking around his neck completely, but it was a hollow victory. While it stayed there and kept him breathing, it couldn't do anything else. And while he was certainly stronger, he was built for endurance, not sheer strength - his was an athlete's physique, not quite a fighter's. As far as he was concerned, it was a stalemate. Not that that stopped him from trying to break it, of course. The arm Jun had latched onto began lifting upwards, straining to wrench itself free, while the one letting him breathe struggled outwards to try and pry himself free of the leg lock. Unless Jun pulled off something else, he saw it turning into a battle of endurance - one he would, almost certainly, win. |
