| Blow after heavy blow hammered against Hyousuke's guard. His sparring partner was wider and taller than him by a significant margin - and quicker to boot. What few attacks he tried to dodge, even subconsciously, still glanced across him. Anything he did manage to throw at his opponent, through the flurry of strikes that were pushing him closer and closer to the ring's edge, barely seemed to do anything to him - were it not for the gloves, Hyousuke would have wagered that striking against such a solid surface would hurt his own knuckles more. Still he kept pushing forward, stalwart to the point of stubbornness.
He hadn't a choice in it, however. His partner backed off and held an open palm out, telling him to stop. Loathe as he was to relent, Hyousuke sighed, and lowered his guard. While his Quirk had stopped him from losing any stamina, there was no denying that the strikes rained on him had taken their toll, and he'd wake up sore for a while.
"Damn it... Almost had you..."
"Don't kid yourself, kid. I wasn't even trying."
"The hell are you-"
"Look, I appreciate your enthusiasm. But you're just throwing yourself at me. You're not good enough for me to spar with, and I don't have the time to teach you."
Hyousuke's partner exited through the ropes, leaving the blonde to consider what he'd been told. He didn't want to admit it, but what they'd said was true. He'd been all but held against the ropes, and that was when his opponent hadn't even been giving it his all. Hyousuke had been laid into like a sentient punching bag, however, and was sore all over for his troubles. Exhaling, he leaned against the ropes, and stared up at the ceiling, wondering where the hell he was supposed to go from there.

Kyou walked into the gym wearing a short sleeved shirt where the sleeves and shoulders were blue, but the rest of it was white, and the pants were also blue. The red head had a duffel bag with him with a change of clothes. Just a plain T-shirt and jeans. He had heard there was a gym that would allow use of quirks in an arena that was supervised by a hero or designated trainer that had permission. It was odd to say the least, but the gym itself was getting pretty popular. There was a match going on already. Setting down his stuff, the five foot nine boy went to watch. It was Hyousuke, fighting someone much larger than himself. But the guy was basically a glorified punching bag. When it was over, he heard the conversation. It was harsh, but it was very true. Doubling down, and just going head first to try to land some blows doesn't do the body justice, even if you can take the hits.
"You know...if you dodged a bit more, maybe even use some basic redirection, you'd be able to do more. There's a reason most martial arts styles are considered the least practical in a real fight. Tournaments mostly. Or one on one fights like this." If Hyousuke turned around to see Kyou, he'd give a two fingered salute. "Long time no see." He couldn't help but wonder if the guy had ran into Isamu yet, and had been given a warning. Hopefully not...and hopefully maybe even have a little fun himself while teaching this would be hero a little bit.

| "Yeah, yeah, I know..." Kickboxing - at least, the style that Hyousuke had been taught - wasn't just an endless slugging match. He knew, deep in his heart of hearts, that it was him that had chosen to ignore the lessons on working around an opponent's blows, rather than through them - and that it was him that insisted on going toe-to-toe with people that could swat him like a fly if they so much as sneezed in his general direction. Old habits died hard, however, and learning to undo the damage years of that mindset had done was... Well, it was challenging, to say the least.
Letting his head loll back forward, Hyousuke pushed himself off the ropes, and leaned against the ones Kyou was facing. Despite being red all over from the beating he'd taken - and, given time, purple too - Hyousuke seemed to be doing fine. Indeed, the only real damage done seemed to have been to his pride. "Just thought I was stronger than... Whatever, it's not important right now." He didn't finish, though he figured it was easy to gather what he meant. He cocked a brow at Kyou's greeting, and examined him, making no attempt to hide his squinting. "Oh, right, I remember you! You're that guy that helped us out with those assholes that I got into a fight with, right?"

Kyou rose an eyebrow. "I could argue it was the other way around. I hope you got off lightly for the fight...that aid did not look pleased, and seemed like the type to purposely forget certain details when reporting to others. But yeah, it's me. Kyou Kazumi. I didn't realize I was that easy to forget, Hyousuke-kun." His tone was playful. Though the comment that was interrupted intrigued him. Was this a hero that took pride in his own strength? It was a curious comment to just leave hanging. "Stronger than that? Or stronger than that guy? Strength can also be subjective. I could argue that someone that is highly intelligent but physically weak is just as strong as someone who is physically fit, but absolutely stupid."
The red head went over to the gloves and head gear, and put some one that fit nicely. "I don't mind waiting a bit for you to catch your breath or rest a little bit. I've just heard of this little gym...where a little pipsqueak took on a much larger guy and both took a draw. If you don't mind another sparring partner that is." He gave the blond a sideways glance, awaiting an answer. And if he had any thoughts about the rest that he said. He noticed some heads turning towards them. The fights were a bit of a draw it seems. But one with such recognizable people was bound to attract some attention. But he wasn't here for that...he was here to blow off some steam.

| A vaguely sheepish expression covered Hyousuke's face as it dawned on him that yes, he had actually managed to forget the redhead's name. No that he was particularly surprised by this revelation, given that the two of them had only met once - memorable as that meeting was - but it was still embarrassing for him to be caught out like that. Nevertheless, he didn't seem to mind much, so Hyousuke decided to drop it and just keep going with the conversation, wherever it was that it led. As he expected, it was to sparring - and to a slightly less vague irked look.
Were it anyone else, Hyousuke would have just shrugged off the comment as something coincidental - in a society filled with strange and unique Quirks, it wasn't unheard of for smaller fighters to be just as deadly, so long as they know how to go about things. But there was something about the way that Kyou said it that struck Hyousuke as strange - and, though he couldn't quite place why, a little cutting. Despite his misgivings, Hyousuke was always eager to spar, and with one being offered to him by someone that thought he'd be a good match, how could he refuse?
"Don't need to worry about me catching my breath." He said in response, while stretching to limber up once more. "If there's one thing I ain't getting beaten at, it's stamina." Given how the only feasible way to beat him in a contest of endurance was to outright not be able to run out of it in the first place, rather than have a staggeringly fast regenerative speed, it was something he had every right to be confident in. "About what you said about strength, though..." He paused for a moment, holding his position while he gathered his thoughts.
"I'm talking about being strong enough to take on guys like him. I get what you're saying, but this isn't that complicated." Philosophy and sophistry were far from Hyousuke's speciality. If Kyou wanted a debate about the nature of strength, or an in-depth conversation about what it truly meant to be powerful, then he would likely not get far with Hyousuke. By his own admission, he was a fairly simple person, whose solution to most problems involved hitting them really hard.

That was convenient. If that was his quirk, it wasn't a particularly powerful one...he would almost have to use support equipment to make full use of it. But it is what it is...sometimes you just have to work with what you got. Hopefully the hero wannabe wasn't too prideful to refuse the use of such equipment. Kyou's own quirk necessitated a need for some, since it was so dependent on his environment and surroudings. "In an arena like this, that's hard to do...if you don't got the skills, or the power, there's only one thing left, the brain. And in plain areas like this, it doesn't leave a lot to work with. Luckily, most places aren't like this, so it would be easier to outdo a superior opponent. But in a straight out brawl? Good luck with that. Shall we?" Kyou had climbed into the ring. And was ready for a fight.
Kyou started to walk towards the blond like a predator, ready to kill. Though it was nonchalant, like he did this every day for the last seventeen years. If Hyousuke likewise went after him, and threw the first punch, the blazing red heard would redirect it and aim an uppercut to the jaw. Which would then be followed up by a grapple, and tossed over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Since he was here to spar, he wouldn't follow through on anything more than that.
If Hyousuke was more defensive, Kyou would aim for the gut, then face for a one-two punch.

| Hyousuke's lip twitched, showing a slight sense of being irked to the observant onlooker. If he didn't know better, he'd have sworn that Kyou was trying to wind him up - like he was poking at prodding at what he knew to be sore spots. But the two barely knew each other. Hyousuke supposed that it was mere coincidence, or perhaps that Kyou was one of those people that could pick apart a person at a glance. "Fat lot of good it'll do if he gets smacked in the face." He thought to himself, climbing in after and making his way to the other corner.
Once they'd started, Hyousuke moved forward. He started forward - but not with a bull-like charge, as he'd done so many times before. Though he had a long way to go, Tsubame's special training hard started to show results. He was still reckless, no doubt, but he at least thought to evaluate his opponent before rushing them down. His guard up, he made his advance, lashing out with a swift left jab - something light that he could easily retract. A probing blow to gauge his opponent's reaction. The moment he saw that flicker of a fist going towards his jaw, his own came back, turning that uppercut to a glancing blow.
Emboldened, he swung with his right, aiming straight for Kyou's face while his guard was open - but it was too slow, his technique too sloppy. He barely had time to prod at Kyou's face before he was thrown to the mat. "Damn it, not again.." Was the sole thought occupying his mind in the seconds before impact. To his credit, however, he'd practised breaking his own fall - and recovering swiftly from any he took. Hyousuke lunged back in again, keeping his stance low and body tight to make himself a harder target to hit, before striking out with a quick one-two combination.
The first was another left jab at Kyou's face. The focus in Hyousuke's eyes was palpable - it was like he was trying to hurt Kyou, and like he'd completely forgotten they were only sparring. But it was a step short of a feint. He'd thrown the punch to try and have Kyou guard his face, while his right followed not a split second behind as a right hook into his side. Hyousuke pulled back, of course, not wanting to truly hurt him, but it would hardly tickle if it hit.

He's either learned some or got some actual training. Kyou thought when Hyousuke didn't do a bull headed charge like what he did against Hina and the rest of those girls. The blond retracted what was probably a probing punch to block his uppercut. But the boy also learned to recover quickly from being thrown on the ground. It only made Kyou grin in anticipation. Even more so when Hyousuke lunged at him, low. The first was to his face, which Kyou side stepped easily to dodge it. With his reaction speed, it was going to take more than that to hit him. Then came the second punch. And that's when the blazing red head made his move.
Kyou used his left arm to scrape and move the punch away from his side, locking it at the elbow. Then attempt to use his other arm to lock the boy's head in a grapple for a series of knees to the face or stomach. Finishing with an elbow to the back of the head after 10 or so knees.
If Hyousuke did something to stop the headlock, Kyou would simply give the boy an elbow to the back of the head followed by a kick to the face. If the blond dodged entirely, Kyou would tilt his head to one side and give the boy a "come hither" motion with his left hand.
Despite Kyou being slimmer in terms of body shape, he estimated that they were overall the same in physical strength.

| While he had no counter, Hyousuke had - on some level - expected a move like that. It'd happened enough times to him that, by that point, he was a little surprised when someone just outright blocked or dodged, rather than used a counter. Though they were matched in strength, however, Hyousuke knew how to take a beating, and he knew how to block one. The first strike was too quick for him to block, and it forced a pained grunt past his lips, but the rest only met a tight, solid, guard. The impact dampened against his blocks, Hyousuke stumbled after the hit to the head - but didn't move away.
Instead, he lashed out, finally close enough to drive his elbow up and into Kyou's chin. It was a sharp, swift strike, delivered at almost point-blank range - perhaps not enough to do more than stagger him, but it was far from the only one. Strike upon strike upon strike swarmed the redhead, driven by constantly regenerating stamina. What Hyousuke lacked in finesse he made up for in sheer stubbornness, backed up by a bottomless well of fuel. The blonde pressed forward, trying to overwhelm Kyou, kicking at his shins if he tried to dodge to the side. Hyousuke had set the rhythm and keep the pressure on - there was no strategy against sufficient force, after all.

Hyousuke reacted faster than what Kyou had anticipated, and got an elbow for his trouble, staggering him back. Asahi wasn't going to be too happy about that. Unlike said boyfriend, though, Kyou can take a few hits...he wasn't fragile, but he also was particularly durable, either. But after that, Hyousuke went at him at full force. Kyou backed up, blocking and redirecting attacks, but nothing that would give him the opportunity to turn this around. When he tried to side step, he was forced back to his original position, not wanting to get stumbled. This was far more impressive than the first time they met. But he wasn't going to stay on the defensive for long...he found a pattern.
He matched a fist with another fist instead of blocking or redirecting. Hopefully stopping the momentum. And giving him time to hopefully catch the other fist and arm to pull and flip the guy over his shoulder. He then tried to kick the other boy in the face. Standing back, he was ready for another quick recovery. It felt good to have a real challenge this time...while he couldn't take full advantage of it, Kyou might as well enjoy it while it lasts. Who knows when he would be able to do this again.

| Stuck in the rhythm of his own punches as he was, Hyousuke was too late to counter the grab, and could only brace himself against what he knew would be coming. He knew that he couldn't do much to counter it, and with them being matched so equally in strength, simply wrenching himself free - in the split second that he had before he hit the canvas - wasn't an option. Teeth grit, he did the only thing that he could think to do, and made the entire thing as painful and as troublesome as he could for his opponent.
Hyousuke barged forward and took as low a stance as he could manage, lowering his center of gravity - and, hopefully, making Kyou spend more energy than it was worth to flip him. His right lashed out as he was forced to move, not quite slamming against Kyou's sternum, but he thought it enough to show that - if he so desired - he could make Kyou hurt a lot more. Despite his best efforts, however, the sound of Hyousuke slamming against the canvas - and using his breakfall to keep himself going - echoed out, and he rose up again.
His heart pounded in his ears. It was only sparring, but even so, fighting someone as strong as him, but far more skilled - it left him with a thrill that he just couldn't describe. It was humiliating to be thrown around like that, especially in front of so many, but the fight itself? He couldn't help but enjoy it. Teeth clenched and expression hardened, he bolted forward for another round, arm twitching as if to throw an uppercut towards his chin - only to pull back, while his right shot around from the side, shooting towards Kyou's lowest rib.

Yeah, Kyou was going to end up with some bruises. Still, he didn't falter. He took a punch while throwing the boy down, and guy made it more difficult than it should have been. The red head was ready for the feint, and stepped inside the shot to his side, using his left arm to to stop it. He tried to stomp on the guy's foot, and do a body slam into the blond. If it hit, and stumbled the boy back, Kyou would punch the boy square in the nose. If it missed, he'd go into an elbow at the guy's sternum or backhand to the jaw.
The blond was stubborn, and had some skills...but no indication of what his quirk was, or why Hyousuke wanted to become a hero. Maybe a little chat after the match would be nice to find out the guy's motivations. What made him tick. The guy wanted to be strong, and didn't seem to take any slight to being weak lightly. Or impossible odds. Sometimes reality had a way to kick people in the butt. He didn't like reality sometimes either, but sadly, it was the world they lived in. Right now, he focused on the fight at hand.

| A brief look surprise and of consternation crossed Hyousukes face when Kyou avoided the feint. He'd been banking on that to work, and that split second where he'd lost focus was enough of an opening for Kyou's body slam to land square against him. Hyousuke was strong and heavy enough to take the brunt of the force, even if it force his boots to scrape and squeak along the canvas, but it'd parted his arms just enough for his guard to slip. The blow hit him squarely in the face, and a grunt of pain rang out into the room.
He didn't know anything about the guy - even his fighting style was something that Hyousuke was taking a little while to get used to. He supposed that Kyou couldn't really be that bad a person, though - they'd helped him and the other guy out of a pinch, after all. And while a few things that'd been said rubbed Hyou the wrong way, he reminded himself that they likely weren't said out of any kind of malice - perhaps just advice to help him be a better fighter. Whatever the case, there was still time on the clock, and he was going to make use of it.
Hyousuke started back in, reaching out with a quick one-two combo at his face - then going for his shin with a low, quick, kick. Nothing intended to hurt him or knock him off his feet, mind. Just something to distract him, while he threw his right into an uppercut.

Hyousuke didn't go down. And went right back at him. Kyou redirected the first punch away from him, and blocked the second, but let one of his legs, putting the red head into a kneel. Then he tried to catch the uppercut that was heading for his nose, then pull towards himself, going into a headbutt. Then the red head would twist the arm up and bend it behind the blond's back, and kick at the back of the knee. A punch to the back of the head, and a stomp kick to the back would round out his combo.
Alternatively, he'd dodge the uppercut, and punch a shin and do an uppercut of his own. If it hit, he'd grab an arm and put the blond on the ground again, this time keeping hold onto the arm, and putting a painful twist while putting most of his weight onto the boy to make it difficult at best to get back up.
Either way, Kyou was going to try to make him give up. Sometimes it was better to give up and try again another day. Both heroes and villains should know how to do that, as well as the grey vigilantes. Though some stakes were just too large to just give up. This sparring match of their's was way too little to actually be too stubborn to give up if you're in an unwinnable position. It'd be different if it was in the real world and someone's life was on the line, but luckily this wasn't it.

| Hyousuke was tough, but that was about the extent of it. Try as he might, his blows couldn't connect as Kyou went behind him, and he was swinging blindly for a second or two before being grabbed. He tried to wrench himself out of the redhead's grasp, and shift his weight to give him a fighting chance against that grip, but it was useless. Whiel they didn't hurt enough to put him on his feet, those strikes were hard and sudden enough to disorient him, and left him vulnerable enough to get forced to the ground.
Hyousuke's first instinct was to stand back up and lash out - until he remembered the numerous other times it'd happened, at various people's hands. It was enough to give him pause, tense though it was, and he took a moment to compose his thoughts. Gritting his teeth and clenching his fists, Hyousuke hated to admit it, but he could tell it wasn't worth fighting on. The round was over - had that been a villain he was fighting, they'd have caved his skull in the moment he hit the floor, or, done any number of other things to be rid of him.
He rose slowly, nails digging into his skin, but otherwise seemed relaxed. He didn't want Kyou to think that he was going to go in for another punch. "Damn," He growled, not at Kyou, but rather to him, "Why do I always get the grapplers..." A little something to lighten the mood, though he had to admit, it was more to soften the blow to his pride than anything else. Nevertheless, he held his fist out, motioning to touch gloves. A sign of respect, thanking him for taking the time to train with him, as was custom in his old gym. "Good match."
