The reactions Sigga got to her quirk were exactly as expected. She referred to that kind of attitude as being naively optimistic in her mind. It wasn’t an attitude exclusive to the boys though. The girl, and heck even just about every human on the planet had a predisposition to view things in life in a far more optimistic light than was accurate. It was this kind of behavior that made folks say things like I’ll be there in five minutes when in reality it would almost always take them longer. It was also the kind of mindset that could get a hero killed. Though… perhaps it wasn’t an entirely fair judgement to pass on the two. Their remarks had no real cost associated and were actually reasonable hypotheses to form upon seeing someone with gills.
Something they didn’t know however, and that the girl didn’t bring up, was that the physiological side of her quirk was sorely underdeveloped. The transition between breathing air and water was uncomfortable at best and the fins on her body did not help in her being able to swim faster. Maybe if she had webbed feet, but that was a feature her biology had decided to omit. The quirk was also incredibly situational. Though about seventy-one percent of the world’s surface is water-covered, one-hundred percent of humans settlements were not.
“I’d do alright I suppose.” She said in reply to the comments the boys made about her doing search and rescue. The words sounded modest, which was as she intended. If she had been honest with them instead Sigga would say she’d actually probably do a piss poor job of search and rescue, but that wouldn’t have made her sound as humble. It would’ve made her sound like someone full of self-pity or self-deprecation or something, which was not a demeanor native to the girl. At least not, unless it was said with a healthy dose of wry humor attached. Maybe should should have gone with that.
Dualaich’s quirk was one she could easily imagine having infinite utility, which was likely due to not knowing of its limitations. She could picture countless ways in which it could be used to set up booby-traps or, through creatively engineered IED’s, decimate foes in a fight. It was a wonder he chose to enroll in this school, though the girl could see it being a way to vindicate his father or otherwise prove that he was more than just the son of a former villain. Her brows arched, dazzled by the discreet display Dua demonstrated.
The girl felt a pang of sympathy for the two boys, thinking on all they had revealed. It sounded like life hadn’t been too kind to them.
She let the door swing closed as the two entered the dorm, now taking up the rear of the procession as the group headed towards the elevator. “Where are you planning on training?” Sigga didn’t exactly intend to join the white-haired boy, but she was still a little curious about what kind of strength-based quirk Quincy had. It didn’t exactly sound like he would demonstrate after having called it a curse and requiring a controlled setting. That thought suddenly trigged a specific interest in the girl’s mind. Did the academy have any special facilities for various quirk training? If they had, like, a sensory deprivation chamber filled with water… Her mind ran away with the idea for a bit. She couldn’t recall what she had read about the academy way back when she was first figuring out how to enroll.

For all that there were two other people in the same conversation as him, and he was surrounded by new places and experiences, and the amount of New he had to look forward to over the next however long until it ceased to be New, Dualaich felt he was handling this all very well. Only the one notable breakdown, and the other co-aborted sympathetic one.... but no permanent damage to anything, and he’d only folded the one suitcase handle unintentionally. Yes. Overall successful thus far.
Something was still off about Sigrid, but honestly he probably needed another three or four years to get his social skills up to the point to where he could figure that out, much less do something about it. Maybe that was college level socializing. Except he was in the hero course, not on a university track. Hm. That might be a drawback he hadn’t considered. It wouldn’t outweigh the other factors, like actually wanting to complete this program, at this specific school, and work as a pro hero, but still.
The dark haired half-Scot floated back to the conversation in time for Sigrid’s answer to a question he hadn’t quite caught. Training. Asking where. An invitation? Or a statement that Quincy was going to go train, but that sounded odd even to Dua and he didn’t think Sigrid would be casually curious?
The elevator pinged open and he shuffled in, continuing to edge the group toward his somewhere-dorm. ”I’m probably going to go for a run later, but I’ll keep it shorter because I’m not sure what’s going to happen with classes tomorrow anyway. Honestly, I... haven’t really trained with other people a lot before.”. Some things needed more than one person, but just running or weight training or other conditioning work? He could push himself, so he didn’t need someone else around to keep him from giving up too soon... and he’d have to match someone else, wouldn’t he? Nic matched him when they were running, rather than the reverse. He’d be running by himself all the time here, though. Nic was staying at home... but it might also be nice to spend time with these people, right? ”But I could gi’ it a go.”. While they were in the elevator, Dualaich’s hands were relieved of the suitcases, and he took the chance to both free his ponytail from under his jacket and untangle his headphones from everything and get them into the same pocket as his phone.
Hm. If Quincy had trouble losing control.... Dualaich looked up and tried to catch his eye. ”Question. With your Quirk, how far and how fast can you run?”

Quincy was a tad excited to have people who'd come with him as training partners. They didn't give a definite yes, but neither of them gave a definite no either. "I'll be in Ground Beta!" He said replying to Siggrid. "It's the only place here that I can genuinely train my quirk without causing any serious harm." He smiled as the elevator arrived to get them. Wait.... WAIT THEY HAD AN ELEVATOR! Quincy used the stairs When moving in to his room. How the hell did he not notice this. His eye's widened as he just realized they had an elevator. It was hitting him so fast. Was he that excited about moving in that he simply took the stairs and didn't do the smart thing which was look around. The boy was baffled! "God i'm stupid!" He'd say slapping his forehead. He could have had so much more reading and studying time if only he looked around first and didn't immediately take the stairs.
As the double doors opened the boy would shake his head. He was dissatisfied with himself. It was more like Disappointment than anything. As they shuffled into the elevator, he was so wrapped up in his thoughts he barely caught what Dua said to him. "Wait what was that?" After a couple seconds it registered in his brain what they said and Quincy proceeded to answer without the need for having it repeated. "Oh...uh 15 Miles per hour. I'm Fairly slow. That's the highest that was clocked during the exams. As for how far I have no idea. I've never tried. My quirk is like on a timer so it cuts itself off after a bit. It leaves me very hungry." He would pat his stomach. "So I have to make to make sure I eat quite a bit before going out for training."

While they two boys remained blissfully unaware of the second half of Sigga’s quirk, the girl was secretly feeling quite proud of herself for having successfully put that topic to bed with a simple flashing of her lower ribs. Being as sharp as she was, the bald student must have been in complete denial of just how conceited and hypocritical her behavior was. Certainly her desire for secrecy was understandable, but the lie of omission would undoubtedly strain the relationship between her and her peers, not if, but when it came to light. But these boys were in A-1 so it’s not like she’d be likely to see them again after today, right?
“Ground beta?” The girl echoed the reply. She remembered reading about the various different grounds or facilities on the campus, but hadn’t bothered memorizing their relative characteristics. The memory was vague. Maybe she could tag along, give herself a sort of semi-guided tour?
She shot Quincy a sideways glance at his sudden exclamation. Seeing someone being so vocal about their own stupidity was utterly bizarre, especially because there weren’t enough context clues to illuminate to Sigga his reason for doing so. Maybe he forgot his lunch or something?
The girl followed the two into the elevator, doing an about-face and positioning herself right at the door.
Sigga’s amber eyes stared vacantly at the elevator doors once they closed, but she was still listening intently at the conversation behind her. Dualaich’s remark about going for a run in conjunction with Quincy’s previous statement of going to train made the girl wonder if perhaps the mindset she was in might be rather ill suited for her new environment. Her rather unambitious plan to simply coast through her classes while keeping her nose out of trouble might not be so easy as evidenced by the boys. Of course, perhaps she just met the only two students in UA that had any intention of doing some sort of workout outside of classes, but this did not bode well.
The box of books got shifted from one shoulder to another just as the elevator finished its ascent. Sigga took enough steps forward so there was room behind her for the others to vacate the elevator, then spun on her heal. It was up to Dua to lead the way from here.
She took a brief pause to look around the hallway, uncertain what to expect. Although this was her first time being on the boy’s side of a gender-segregated dorm, the view was rather underwhelming. There wasn’t a single thing in sight that told her which side of the dorm she was on other than the presence of the two other students with her. Disappointing, but what exactly was she expecting anyway? Urinals mounted on the walls? Hang on. Didn't someone mention the floors weren't segregated anymore, or was she misremembering?

Quincy certainly seemed to be... energetic. Not in a bad way or anything! It would just take some getting used to before it stopped being... surprising. Dualaich clung to the one sensible thing he heard, an answer to his question.... in a unit he really didn’t know very well. But then, Quincy wasn’t Japanese, right? It wasn’t the whole world that used metric. He tried to think. Was a mile longer or shorter than a kilometre?
Know what? He had no idea. ”I don’t know how fast that is,” he admitted. ”I’m better at endurance than speed, but my Quirk doesn’t apply to either. I guess I was thinking about whether or not I’d be able to outrun you, in a worst case kind of scenario. I’m not completely useless in a fight, but I do have to be a little more creative.” In terms of pure combat ability, what he knew of his dad’s Quirk was way stronger than his; folding your opponent would stop them pretty quick, if not keep them out of every fight in the future thanks to the psychological trauma. Dualaich couldn’t intentionally fold himself, but he’d still had a taste of the disconcerting sensation.
But anyway. This was supposed to be the right floor, so he just had to find the right room, somewhere... around... here... supposedly...
He made it to the end of the hallway and back before realizing that he had been standing in front of it in the first place, and unlocked the door. There was a stomach-twisting pause, and then it blinked green. Dua sighed in relief and shoved his suitcases into the middle of the formally neutral space.

Quincy would stumble out of the elevator and follow Dua around as he looked for his room. 'I wonder if he's having some trouble.' Quincy however was quiet and simply followed behind the boy. "I forgot you guys use a different metric system here. Basically it's about the speed of a slow moving car. So unless you can run that fast I don't think so." Quincy laughed a little. Not many could out run him without a speed quirk. He honestly could be watching, Alpharad on youtube at this point but he decided to help the boy. It Just so happened that Quincy's room was on this same floor. He was so close to playing video games in his room. It was already a fairly long morning. He looked to the distant door longingly for a short while and sighed. He had thing to do later that day but he was getting sleepy once more and wanted to rest again.
As they arrived to the room Quincy would set his box down and wipe the sweat off of his forehead. "Do you need anything else? My room is also on this floor so I can help as long as you need!"

The helpful fish waited for the two boys to vacate the elevator and then took up the rear of the procession. The trio marched to the end of the hall and doubled back before the correct door was located. Sigga poked her head into the room as if to check for traps or an ambush. Satisfied the area was secure, she waltzed in, not waiting for an invitation. The box of books slid off her shoulder and into her outstretched arms, before the girl gingerly set them down on the floor next to the suitcases. “Huh.” She remarked, slowly rotating until the entirety of the formerly empty room was committed to memory. A trivial task considering- “Looks just like mine.” What had she been expecting anyway? With the ground floor being the exception, the dorms had a rather flawless symmetry to them. What’s more, 1-A was the spitting image of 1-B. How utterly underwhelming. Oh, well. At least her good deed could be banked for a potential future favor. Though if she was being honest with herself it was unlikely she’d ever end up cashing it in. Sigga didn’t consider the time a waste, however. Regardless of the results the reconnaissance was both informative and temporarily engaging. She took a few more steps into the room and began looking it over again, as if searching for something. Perhaps it was some form of idle desperation, but the teen secretly hoped the room had some sort of hidden feature. What kind of feature? She didn’t know. Even something mundane like a personal washing machine and dryer would have been interesting. It would’ve allowed the schemer to petition such an appliance for her own room. Alas the girl’s few seconds of snooping yielded no new discovery. Not particularly surprising. Mr. Dual-H over here had only just moved in so any hypothetical false walls or automated defense systems simply had yet to be installed. Her mind gave a mental shrug and the girl spun on her heel. “Well, happy to have helped~” She chirped, exiting the room with a wave. Her task had been completed and perhaps she’d be able to call upon a favor next time she encountered the indigo-haired boy. She had no intention of sticking around too long lest she end up being asked for some additional help that she didn’t have any intention of providing. It was difficult for people to remember being helped with multiple tasks in quick succession so the benefit of banking additional future favors seemed slim. As the girl walked down the hall, now out of sight of the two male teens, they could hear her final farewell. “Lemme know if you need help with anything else.” Of course, by this point the girl had already the electrical elevation unit, and the elevator's doors closed shut before anyone could take her up on the offer.
