At UA the students took turns cleaning the classrooms in pairs. It was pretty straightforward work, if a little dreary. When it was Sigga’s turn, however, she was given an alternative option. In fact, this option had been presented to just about every class at the academy. One person would be left to clean the classroom, while the other would volunteer an hour of their day to help pick up trash at the local beach. It had sounded like a good idea when she first heard it, so Sigga had jumped at the opportunity. She’d get to see the ocean again without having to arrange for transportation and she’d get to do so during a time that would otherwise have been spent tidying up at school. Perfect! Only… it wasn’t. As the various UA student’s got off the academy bus, were placed into pairs and each pair given a single trash bag and two-pronged mechanical trash picker, the anticipation in Sigga’s expression vanished. In front of them was a sign labeled Dagobah Municipal Beach Park. The sign wasn’t what drained the color from the fish-girl’s face though; it was what lay beyond it. A vast beach stretching as far as the eye could see in either direction. A beach that wasn’t just littered with garbage, but was undeniably overwhelmed with colossal piles of trash that made the once-pristine dating spot look like some sort of apocalyptic wasteland. Rampant pollution had turned the public sea-side park into a junkyard. The beach had been accumulating trash coming from the sea for years and, with no funds being diverted to clean it, the impossible task had been given to the students. Most of them had been led further down the beach with the fish-girl and one other second-year student tasked in picking up garbage in the first segment. “Gleehhhh…” Sigga’s mouth said without any sort of conscious intervention or decision on her part, one hand gripping her garbage bag in dismay. She stood there, dumbfounded for a minute. Eventually she managed to formulate some proper thoughts which in turn were voiced to the other girl that was with her. “Is- is this some sort of joke?”Mixed emotions of irritation and acrimony rose to the surface. The idea of enjoying some time at the beach had been long forgotten, Sigga now focusing at the absurdity and futility of the task at hand. “You’d need an army to make some sort of dent in this mess!” She exclaim to the other girl. Despite the obvious anger with their situation, the finned teen marched onto the beach with her garbage bag.

Airin Bekka stared in a muted silence at the state of the beach, it was not horror at the unfortunate sight which froze her vocal cords but rather disappointment. Disappointment not at the task at hand rather at the nature of humanity and how it tended to treat the planet it occupied. All of this was just such a waste, a king's ransom in junk, trash and garbage. Yet humanity as ever tended to be a wasteful species, it was far easier to throw something out than to fix it, drop something than continue to work on something... Eventually a small flicker of a smile teased the corner of her lips. Melancholia, the first refuge of the damned. She could see why they needed heroes for this, but in truth anyone could have started to clean up the beach, just like how any one could start the necessary changes needed to make a better world. However it seemed to be forever the way to come up with excuses or expect governments or big corporations to make the changes necessary. Ultimate power and choice lay with the people, if everyone started to change, to clean up the wild places, to recycle, to go green as it were then the governments and big corporations would have no alternative but to follow or fall.
It was a chance at least of a better tomorrow and that was what heroes did, allowed for hope, they gave humanity that chance of a brighter future... Maybe she was onto something or maybe the sight had shaken her nerves and frazzled her reasoning capabilities. "What a creature man is... Given everything it still chooses to destroy the very places it dwells and needs for it's own survival." Airin muttered softly, her voice filled with a immense almost unbearable grief, the corners of her eyes blurring with tears. "We best get started, even the longest journey begins with but a single step." The small hero attempted to sound more confident than she felt in the matter but she was visible shaken by the horrors around her. She followed the other girl, but her progress was slower as she stared at the hills of rubbish which almost appeared to be near endless. How many years of junk lay here? Washed ashore from all over the world... It boggled the mind just attempting to conceive of it all. A dark history of humanity, a perverse parody of rings in a tree, written in the discarded refuse of humanity... Some might have considered some of these objects treasures, particularly if they were rebuilt or repaired, yet to Airin it was nought but waste. It was almost enough to make her retreat back, consider returning to the school and trying to get someone else to take her place. Yet to do so was cowardly, Airin was not a coward, a hero did what they needed to do, they did not only take the easy path.
"This is heartbreaking." Airin muttered again, pausing at a pile of junk. How had it all come to this? Was there any point in even starting?

They say that one man's trash is another man's treasure. But let's be perfectly honest; that's basically nothing but a bunch of utter nonsense. In the vast majority of cases, one man's trash is another man's trash. The exceptions to the rule were few and far between, and were almost always the result of ignorance or negligence on the part of one of the two parties. After all, a discarded napkin didn't suddenly become something amazing just because someone else was looking at it. Now, that wasn't to say that trash didn't have its uses; with enough hard work and creativity you could do something productive with it, but at the end of the day that didn't change what it was. The discarded refuse of society, tossed aside so that it can be forgotten out of sight, at least until the mess became too big to ignore.
So basically, People treated the stinking fetid beach the same way they treated people like Hiro. Certainly a cheery thought, but that just meant that he understood perfectly well how useful trash could be.
At the base of one of the many piles stood a dark skinned boy with white hair that was dressed in a worn grey hoodie and a pair of old cargo pants. He held a hand out toward the mound of scrap metal before him, eyes closed as his mind probed at the structure with the extra senses granted by his quirk. He could feel each individual mass of metal within his sphere of influence, even identify what kind each was if he focused hard enough. And there was a ton of it. Places like this junk heap were perfect for training his particular talents; not only did almost everyone avoid the area, but it was also full of plenty of material for him to play around with. And he could certainly have some fun when he didn't have to worry so much about collateral damage or drawing unwanted attention.
With a deep breath in and out, Hiro sent out a pulse, mentally guiding it through the structure while keeping his eyes shut tight. A moment later the whole pile lurched without warning, beginning to slowly collapse in on itself with a cacophony of noise. As more and more pieces fell to the side, they began to reveal a core of semi-liquefied metal, gradually spreading outward as his mental touch reached further. In the span of just a few seconds the entire mass was converted to a big gooey pile, which meant that it was time to go to work. Even as the metal began to puddle out across the sand, Hiro kept probing at it with his quirk, selectively re-solidifying bits here and there while putting together a detailed schematic of sorts in his head.
It was always hard to tell how long things like this took because of just how much focus he had to pour into the fine manipulations of his abilities, but as Hiro worked the leftover metal ran off and the structure took shape. When he was finally satisfied that he could do no more, the boy opened his eyes and took in the fruits of his labor. The remaining material formed into long twisting strands that came together in the shape of a leafless, metallic tree. Not too bad... though there was still more room for improvement. The boy looked it over carefully for a few moments, taking note of the small inconsistencies in the shape, jagged uneven edges and the like, before finally taking a step back. To his side were three more similar sculptures of metal, each surrounded by snaking roots that were created when the run-off re-solidified within the sand. The results of a few hours of practice, and the beginnings of a tiny little forest amidst a veritable sea of garbage.

Sigga could tell the other girl was trying to put on a brave face despite the sight of the beach evoking little other than despair. It was difficult to be attentive to one self when sad which was why the bald girl’s mind oft defaulted to other emotions. Like anger. It wasn’t anger directed at humanity’s ability to cock-up the environment to such an extent, but the far more personal fact that they were expected to fix the problem with a single garbage bag and trash-picker.
Trying to stay angry at the situation, however, was proving to be rather difficult. When the other girl verbalized the emotional anguish she experienced, Sigga found herself incapable of fighting off her own lurking sadness. It was terrifying. Terrifying because the emotion had them standing in a place where they could not remain standing. It was this uncomfortable and unpleasant liminal state where you just couldn’t remain; a point where the past was already gone and the future yet to envelope the present.
The girl stopped walking for a moment, the pout on her face having been replaced with a look of resigned repentance. She was allowing herself to more properly understand her current feelings and the situation at hand. Paying attention when one is distraught, that is the moment the future takes hold in you, not at some later fortuitous time in the future when the future will appear to happen as if from the outside. The student draped her still empty garbage bag over her neck like it was a scarf or towel, a fist clenched onto either end. “Heartbreaking? Yes.” Sigga said, walking over to the other girl. Her tone began to take on a bit more resolve. “But cleaning up this mess isn’t necessarily out of our reach…”
“We shouldn’t call a task impossible,” the fish-girl continued, “until we’ve thoroughly thought about it for at least five minutes. And I don’t mean five minutes metaphorically, but five actual minutes.” The words might not have been particularly uplifting but maybe the rational, grounded proposal would help the other student. It helped Sigga. The teen climbed halfway up one of the junk piles, oblivious to the fact that just on the other side of the heap was someone that had their own method of dealing with the garbage. The girl sat down on an overturned washing machine, her feet thumping against the metal side. She made sure not to start proposing solutions right away. That was taking things entirely out of order. You shouldn’t start out by immediately looking for solutions to a difficult task. Better to think on problem as thoroughly as possible first, lest you get attached to some sort of quick-fix that ends up taking up time with limited results. “Hrm…”

"Nothing is impossible... This..." Airin shook her head. "This requires a plan of how to do this." Coming here two students at a time, regardless of their individual Quirks was not about to cut it. Even if they could reliably pick two students to come here every day, it would be months if not years before they cleared the beach properly. In an ideal world, they could get everyone together to attempt it in a few days or weeks over a set period of time. But... As everyone knew, they did not live in an ideal world, if they did then they would not need heroes to face the battles that the many could not. Was this just another one of those very battles? One where they fought not against a villain but against humanity in order to save it from it's own hubris? Nature, beautiful and wild as it was needed to be protected because humans needed it far more than many realised. "We should get more students out here." Or take pictures to roughly work out a plan when back at UA High. Yet such strategy reeked of retreat, of surrendering to the unfortunate situation they found themselves facing. Perhaps that was part of it, seeing how a potential hero reacted when faced with a seemingly impossible problem. There had to be a way to win.
"Careful." Airin cautioned as the fish girl climbed up one of the piles of junk. "I do not want to have to drag you out if it collapsed." She warned, though if her friend did end up with an injury Airin would be able to heal it. Within reason of course, yet if such was the case Airin herself would suffer, thus impairing their ability to counter the seemingly endless amount of rubbish to remove. "If only we knew someone who could melt or dissolve all of this." Airin mumbled, kicking a rusting tin can into one of the piles with a clatter.

Hiro took a moment to catch his breath after stepping away from his metallic constructs. Turning a heaping mass of scrap into a work of art was a lot of work after all... Well okay, not physically since he wasn't actually lifting a muscle, but certainly it was mentally taxing. His quirk was doing most of the heavy lifting, but at the end of the day he was essentially constructing a complex three dimensional structure in real time, using his abilities to swap the consistency of the metal as it flowed downward with gravity. Now, obviously that sort of brain exercise worked wonders when it came to training, but let's be honest, that part of the equation might as well have been an excuse. The fact that this particular landfill had quite a large percentage of scrap metal was pretty convenient, sure, but he could have just as easily found some cans if all he wanted to do was practice. No, the simple fact of the matter was that he liked art, and here he could practice his quirk and make all the metal sculptures he wanted without anyone getting on his case.
Hell, if anything he was actually improving this dump of a beach.
After collecting himself, Hiro once again stepped up to the tree he'd just finished and made a few fine adjustments, smoothing out a few rough edges as it were. There were quite a few of course, but trimming the excess and quite literally smoothing it over was a simple affair. From there he turned his attention to the ground around the tree. While some of the run-off metal had formed into the root structure, most of it had ended up deposited in a number of large clumps on the surface of the sand. Now, just leaving them there wouldn't do, not when he could just as easily make them into part of the display. A few simple manipulations turned them into more finely cut decorative rocks rather than big soggy piles, and then the leftovers were shaped into simple flower designs, with anything still left being turned into a sort of metallic gravel to help fill out the space. All that only took a few minutes and considerably less concentration, especially since he wasn't doing anything particularly fancy with the flowers. All in all, a pretty noticeable improvement in presentation for the relatively small amount of work it took. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but he could spend literally forever trying to tweak the little details and never get there. No, he understood the artist's trap well enough, and knew that it was better to do what you could and move on, rather than leave the work unfinished.
And he certainly had a lot of real estate left to cover if he wanted to make a dent in this place, didn't he? Hiro was nothing if not persistent though, it was just a matter of picking a place to start... The boy took a second to look around before settling on a nearby pile and moving to start another round of sculpting. Just as before, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, reaching out with his mind to examine the metal before him. Once the picture became clear, he sent out a pulse to start to liquefy the mass, unaware of a certain fish girl that was perched atop the now-collapsing pile.

“Mmm... Hrmmmmm...” The hairless girl seemed to squint at some non-existent figment as her mind took several moments to agonize over the problem at hand. There was no clear solution visible to her, an obvious conclusion to come to seeing as the polluted beach was in this state. The teenager was only half-listening to the other girl’s remarks. She didn’t immediately reply but her mind did sift through them for any potential nuggets of wisdom. Getting more students to participate in the clean-up would help, but to what extent? The meager handful that had volunteered were unlikely to make much progress and she certainly didn’t have the kind of social influence required to amass the bodies required for the task. Sure the student might be able to corral a few easily-manipulated passersby, but the time and effort that required would not be worth whatever help resulted from it. If only she had, like, a massive social media following or something…
Ideas slowly shifting to fantasies of what kind of influence a proper pro-hero might have, Sigga did not process the warning the other student gave her. The fish-girl’s shoes continued to silently drum against the washing machine she had parked atop of. Her thoughts began to slowly get away from her before being brought back by the clatter of a tin can being kicked. The other girl, Sigga did not know her name, seemed to also have begun some wishful thinking of her own. Having someone with a quirk that could dissolve the trash certainly would be useful, but even if they knew someone like that the amount of trash in need of being dealt with would far outnumber the mental and physical toll using such a quirk would likely demand.
Sigga found herself eyeballing the tin can that had been kicked. She couldn’t help but notice just how much of the garbage was actually recyclable. There was probably even some significant value that could be found if one could sort some of the items. Naturally, the idea of potentially profiting off the situation got the girl to redoubling her mental efforts on the task. So focused was she that the world moving of its own accord somehow escaped her notice. By the time the sky fully occupied her vision it was too late.
Unbeknownst to the UA students, parts of the pile of garbage Sigga chose as her palace of contemplation were beginning to liquefy. In far less time than would have been required for the slow girl to react in, the materials beneath her shifted and swallowed her up. A surprised “-Eep!” would have drawn Airin’s attention in time to see a foot and an inverted washing machine get swallowed up by the still-solid portion of the heap.

The world certainly happened to be as cruel as it was beautiful. For every sweet thing there lay a hidden darkness, for all the vices of man could be found amidst the piles here... Like a shattered monument to humanity's vanity or a despoiled once grand tomb. Airin's first sense of trouble was when she sound of garbage being disturbed reached her ears. She whirled around, whatever her mind had been half expecting to encounter... Seeing Sigrid all but disappear beneath a what? A liquefying pile of trash? For a heartbeat, shock and surprise froze Airin in place, then she was moving towards her friend. "Get out of there." She cried, trying to grab Sigrid, without getting herself tangled up in whatever this mess happened to be. "It would be super helpful if I suddenly developed a flying quirk right about now." She muttered, adrenaline coursing through her veins. She was a healer, sure she could do a rescue but there were others usually much better equipped to handle such things than herself. "Hold on." She called out trying to grab her and pull her free from this.
There were currently too many questions to ask and it really was not the time. Once they were both safe, then she could think of some way to explain all this. One problem at a time and saving another hero to be ranked high on her list of priorities right now.

Alright, let's take this from the top, shall we? Envision the shape within and guide the flow toward it. The important part was to only solidify the metal again once everything under it had already been locked in place, otherwise it would just sink downward with the current. That's why Hiro only turned the metal semi-liquid, since otherwise it would simply move too quickly for him to make the shape right. Of course, this pile was a bit bigger than the others, he couldn't reach the entire thing from one spot, and he had to form some makeshift stairs in order to climb up and get more of the mass into his sphere or influence. That extra size made the task a bit harder, but it also gave him some more options when it came to his sculpting. Maybe this one could be a full sized Sakura tree? That would certainly be a nice centerpiece that the area was missing...
So focused on his work, Hiro didn't even notice the student's surprised yelp, only actually realizing that something was wrong when he took a step forward and felt something foreign drop into the freshly liquefied metal. Now, the fact that something not metal was in the pile wasn't particularly concerning, it was a junk yard after all. The fact that he could feel that thing moving and hear someone shouting however, was very concerning. In an instant the boy's eyes flew open and he swiped his arms through the air as he sent out a powerful pulse in every direction. Turning the scrap back to solid was too dangerous, since he could easily trap whatever it was inside, so instead he made everything within his reach turn to free-flowing liquid. With a crack, waves of silvery fluid exploded from the mass and crashed out in every direction, splattering over sand, trash, and people alike.
Within moments, what had been a rather sizable pile of scrap metal was reduced to a large, silvery puddle on the ground, with a humanoid figure lying somewhere near the middle. Hiro let out a silent sigh before quickly starting forward, ignoring the fact that he himself had been covered by a layer of shining metal. Not even noticing that there was a second person standing there, the boy dropped to a crouch and gave the stranger a quick shake to make sure that they were alright. It'd be a pretty sad day if his little art project ended up killing someone... Why the hell was there even someone here in the middle of a dump, and why on earth were they climbing on piles of garbage?

As oft was the case, the situation Sigga found herself in was no longer in her control. Sometimes it seemed as if her life’s events were dictated by some capricious being rather than brought on by her own free will; like every day was some sort of badly written short story that required conflict or some antithesis for her to overcome. The girl would have much preferred for things to be more static in her environment. Chaos was only entertaining if she was the one creating it. Perhaps it was her lack of reaction to the escalating situation that got her through it unharmed. Rather than panic as her world was literally beginning to invert, the bald student remained rather calm and lucid. She was aware that the pile of trash was somehow pulling her downwards but did not bother to flail her arms aimlessly. Of course rather than her passive reaction to being buried alive having anything to do with an enlightened mindset, Sigga’s muted response may have been brought on by the realization that she did not have the means to easily usurp control of the situation. The moment the pile of garbage beneath her had begun to move, the lid of the washing machine she had been sitting on had trepidatiously unseated itself from the old appliance. Lacking adequate reflexes, the girl’s rump ended up being embarrassingly wedged between the washing machine’s agitator and steel framework. In a word, she was now stuck.
While destiny continued to conduct the performance, two other teenagers made aware of Sigga’s precarious position took it upon themselves to help her out. The student could feel someone’s hand grasp her own outstretched fingers. The movement of the pile spurred by the vacancy where various metal objects had just been liquefied was too strong, however. Gravity tugged at the two girls, pulling them down towards a metallic molasses. On her back, half her body still stuck in the washing machine, Sigga felt her scalp make contact with the liquefied metal. It was a surreal experience, especially because she couldn’t exactly see what was happening. The girl tried to turn her head, foolishly almost getting the silvery matter into her eyes. It was quite fortunate that at that very moment the metallic blob seemed to disperse, cascading to either side of her by some unseen force. It was there and then that the roller-coaster ended. The flow of junk slowed to a stop and deposited two girl’s in UA uniforms at the feet of a white-haired teen, Sigga still stuck in the toppled washing machine, and Airin right beside her. One of Sigga’s hands was still outstretched, gripping tightly onto the other girl’s wrist, while her other hand had reflexively shot towards her skirt so as to keep her underwear hidden from view.
Aside from some minor bumps and silver stains, everyone seemed to be relatively unharmed, though the finned girl was definitely still stuck in the appliance. A boy, who Sigga surmised had assisted in creating a softer landing or possibly was responsible for the trash piles initial collapse, was now attempting to investigate her well-being by shaking the poor girl. “Uh-uh-uh…” Sigga stammered, trying to get the boy’s attention so he’d stop shaking her. When he’d finally take stock of the situation he’d notice that the girl seemed to be mostly fine and very much still conscious. “Hi.” She blurted out, still unceremoniously lying on her backside.

One moment Sigga existed, the next she seemed to disappear, being swallowed up by suddenly molten garbage. As she tried to work out what was going on and more importantly how she might save her friend, the situation changed abruptly again. Solid mounds of garbage seemed to exploded in a fortunate liquid form. Airin managed to dive to the ground, going prone to somewhat shield herself from the disgusting shower. Spitting a mouthful of gritty sand from her mouth, she shook off some of the liquid stuff, trying to get her bearings. Her eyes widened as she spotted Sigga on the ground, with a stranger approaching her. "Hey!" The small student yelled, charging over to see if Sigga was hurt in anyway. It was not in her nature to assume that the stranger had caused the harm in the first place, for all she knew, he was responsible for the rescue. She skidded to a halt, unfortunately, kicking up a spray of sand on Sigga. "Are you hurt? Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?" She inquired going into full healer mode. Airin was after all a healer more than a fighter, even her Quirk, her power rebelled against her if she dealt harm to others.
Once she made sure that her friend was in no immediate danger, she glanced at the boy. "Did you rescue her?" She inquired briefly, before returning her focus to her current patient.

Okay, maybe he didn't need to shake quite so vigorously, but Dammit he was concerned. As soon as Hiro got a response out of the girl, he immediately collapsed backwards into a sitting position and let out another silent sigh of relief. After a second he responded to her rather nonchalant greeting with an exasperated grin and a quick wave. Aside from being covered in metal, she seemed to be more or less in one piece, albeit in a rather precarious position. Figuring he must have just missed a spot, he casually waved his hand and melted the remains of the washing machine down in an attempt to free the girl from her prison. So that was one potential crisis averted, but seriously, what the hell?
The sound of hurried footsteps splashing in the puddles of metal drew the boy's attention and he glanced back in time to see another girl with long orange hair rushing toward them. From the response he had to assume that this one was the fish girl's friend, and... she wasn't immediately throwing accusations at him? Well, that was certainly a breath of fresh air... When she did address him, Hiro gave a slightly hesitant nod to answer her question. Technically he had saved the her from being drowned in metal, but he also was the one that caused the pile to start collapsing in the first place... Honestly though, could they really blame him anyway? How could he have possibly predicted that there would be other kids randomly climbing piles of garbage on this dump of a beach? And why were they there anyway?
Looking the pair over, Hiro could recognize the uniform that they both wore through the splashes of metal. So they were students then, students from UA no less. Alright, that answered the question of who they were, but what about... Ah. He caught sight of an abandoned Trash grabber and bag near the edge of the splash zone and the rest of the story fell into place. Hero students doing some sort of community service apparently... Wait, what the hell did they hope to accomplish with those tools in a place like this? The idea of trying to clean an entire dump with a single trash bag was so absurd to the point of comical and Hiro had to stifle a chuckle as he shook his head. For a school that was supposed to be so prestigious, the place wasn't always the best at actually thinking things through, was it? Well, whatever. The day had certainly gotten more exciting that he'd planned, but he wasn't about to complain, even if it had cost him a perfectly good art piece. Climbing to his feet, Hiro turned back to the fish girl with an amused smile and offered her a hand up. Once she was back on her feet, he pulled off the bandanna around his neck and passed it over so that she'd have something to wipe her face off with, revealing the multitude of shrapnel scars around his neck in the process.

“I’m fi- thfffffplpl- THPBLLBLBDDDLFLL!!” said Sigga, suddenly forced to hack up the sand kicked up as the other girl rushed to check up on her. There were quite a bit more incomprehensible sounds that followed as the fish-girl attempted to rid the newfound grit covering her tongue and jowls. It turned out to be quite a difficult task as the teenager’s natural saliva seemed to be particularly viscous. The girl had to turn her head away from the duo and spit and sputter onto the ground for a few moments. Even then she didn’t quite manage to get all the sand out. The teenager ended up resorting to the rather peculiar action of licking her free arm, the one that was not still occupied with her skirt. It made her look more like a cat grooming itself, rather than an aquatic craniate. One half-stuck in a washing machine at that! Still, the action proved effective.
Her left arm and chin now covered in sand-spotted drool, the girl barked again, “I’m fine! I’m fine! BLEHHH!~” She’d be tasting rusted beach for the rest of the day. “I don’t know about rescued-” Sigga continued, a little bothered by being put in the spotlight like this. Her prideful protest was immediately halted as the rescuer released the girl from her appliance-bound prison. The washing machine melted away like delicious milk chocolate in a microwave.
Sigga’s finned face flushed, amber eyes darting to the ground as she became free once more. “Uh, thanks.” she mumbled, her words barely audible over the ocean’s waves gently bringing in more trash from the sea. Still averting her gaze, the UA student got to her feet without noticing the offered hand and began dusting herself off from sand, silt, and silver. A part of her hoped the other two would start conversing or something, so she could recompose herself without an audience, but apparently she was still the star of the show.
She caught some movement out of her peripheral vision, turning to the white-haired beach-being who seemed to be looking particularly amused. Though he didn’t actually say anything, he did seem to be offering her some sort of strip of cloth for her to clean herself with. Sigga hadn’t noticed he had been wearing it only moments ago, and her thoughts were a little convoluted even for her to comprehend, so the girl wordlessly snapped up the bandanna and began the lengthy process of cleaning herself. It wouldn’t be long before the boy’s sacrificial cloth was engulfed in sand and saliva, looking more like some sort of ancient sea cucumber than the article of clothing it really was.
Part-way through her impromptu grooming routine, something else caught the piscine’s eye. Something that seemed out of place even for the heavily cluttered beach. Her gaze had landed on the beginnings of a tiny forest. It looked like a silvery nervous system sprouting from the sand and the girl seemed rather startled by the discovery, neither speaking nor looking away from it.

At his nod, Airin gave him a quick hug of thanks before turning her attention back to her potentially wounded friend. She tried to ignore how her cheeks had turned red at the sudden action on her part. Airin continued to check her over, despite her protests that she happened to be fine. "We should get you back just to be safe." Who knew what potentially internal injuries there were? It seemed wisest to take the safest course of action here. It was not as if the trash would be going anywhere any time soon. Their safety came first. "Are you okay?" Airin asked Sigga' rescuer. If he was hurt or injured in any manner the healer might be able to aid him. It was fortunate she happened to be here when this unfortunate event took place. Part of her mind wondered about that, but Airin decided to not let her mind go down that road just yet. Sigga was okay and that mattered most to her.
She had been about to ask a follow up question, but the words caught in her throat as her eyes caught sight of what Sigga had already spotted.

Alright, so the girl didn't apparently need any help getting up. Whatever, Hiro passed off the bandanna anyway and then took a step back, only to then be surprised by the orange haired girl. His whole body tensed up slightly at the sudden hug and he would have had to fight back the instinct try and wriggle free if she didn't break off so quickly. Well that was something new, certainly not the sort of reaction he was used to from a complete stranger. Usually someone looking like him got a healthy dose of distrust with his first impression, at least until his natural charm had a chance to win them over. In addition to that, there was that bit of genuine concern, which seemed equally alien to him, making him hesitate for the briefest of moments before he shook his head and gave a dismissive wave of his hand.
Glancing back to check on the fish girl again, Hiro found that she'd succeeded in getting a lot of the sand and metal off, though it seemed his bandanna never stood a chance. Oh well, the thing needed to be washed anyways and... wait, what was going on now? His train of thought was interrupted as he noticed that the girl had frozen in place. He turned back toward her friend to try and get her attention, only to find that she too had stopped, and both were staring back toward... Oh. "Hey, Wait!" His arms waved and his mouth moved, but no sound came out, accomplishing very little since neither of the two students were looking his direction anymore. No, they were rather distracted by the sights beyond where the scrap pile had been.
Didn't they know it was rude to look at an artist's work before it was finished? The dark skinned boy spun about and started forward to try to block their view, but as he moved the whole world seemed to lurch around him. A wave of nausea and light-headedness hit him like a brick wall and his sudden dash turned into a less-than graceful stumble that left him kneeling on the sand. Using one arm to help hold himself steady, it took a second for him to recognize that familiar feeling of weakness and he silently cursed. He had been at it awhile now, hadn't he? Losing track of time like that was dangerous when he was sitting still, it made it much harder gauge when he was starting to reach his limits.
Rather than try to get up and probably fall on his face in the process, Hiro took a few deep breaths and just let himself plop back on the sand. Hardly an opportune time to have his quirk bite him like that, but he'd live. That extra burst he needed to clear the scrap pile quickly must have just took a bit more out of him than expected and he needed a second to rest... yeah, let's go with that. After settling down, he waved his arms again, trying to get either of the girls' attention. Assuming he was successful, he'd then point toward a small black rucksack that rested at the base of one of his trees, and gestured for them to bring it over for him.
