Yui felt her stomach twist at the answers she received to her inquiry. Evidently she had stumbled across some awkward matter or brought up an unwelcome topic of conversation. Surely if her grandfather raised her something negative must have happened to her family? The petite student from 1-A was not about to inquire as to the exact nature of this however. One she lacked the confidence to press for such answers and two and perhaps most importantly, it would be rude. If the other girl wished for her to know more on the matter, she surely would have supplied the additional detail. As Yui was not one for gossip, this tended to sit okay with her. Though she did not want the other student to be suffering, if indeed she were. After all, how long had it been since she lost her parents? Assuming of course... She had, Yui might have misinterpreted after all. Her parents might be fine and merely to attend UA High easier, her grandfather raised her? With difficulty she stopped her train of thought. No good could come from something like this, running through channels of anxious thought. For every solution, it conjured up another problem.
"It is nice to know that there are other students here who aren't from families of super heroes." Yui said somewhat awkwardly, she was not good at this whole communication thing. "I mean... Neither of mine are, so it is nice to know that there are people with similar families." She said, forcing a smile on her face. She wondered if either of her parents had possessed Quirks, if they might have been so willing and eager for her to play music. "Are they complicated to care for? Goats?" Yui had always been a vegetarian, she hoped no one actually ate the goats, other than drank their milk and ate their cheese.

No longer being type to sneak in an attempt at reading another person’s mind, at least not on campus, Sigga remained blissfully unaware of some of the gloomy suppositions the other girl was thinking about. It would have been easy enough for the bald student to guess them though, but her thoughts were more occupied with what the musician was saying rather than thinking. Whether the other teen’s upbringing was more stereotypical of someone going to UA, she couldn’t quite say just yet, but Sigga would bet it had been a far more stable and predictable life than her own.
I rather doubt our families are all that similar. The fish girl didn’t voice that last thought aloud. Their conversation would go far more smoothly if the other girl presumed there to be some common ground between the two. Now, though, Sigga couldn’t help but notice some of the nuances in her demeanor. The student was clearly timid, that was for certain. But why? Perhaps the girl’s family life wasn’t all roses like she had presumed. Still, Sigga couldn’t exactly find out what the case was unless she went ahead and asked about it, but that would have been prying too much into someone’s personal life. They had only just met after all.
Instead, the seasoned billiards player focused on the follow up questions asked of her. You could already tell Sigga had a fondness of the subject, a toothy grin slowly appearing as she spoke. “Well, it depends. I mean, they’re far more work than, say, a domesticated dog. And if you think cats can get onto absurdly tall places, you’ve never met one of our goats.” Her amber eyes moved to the side, as if she was recalling a specific memory. Sigga loved the hooved ruminants. Some of her earliest memories in life involved the goats on her grandfather’s farm. Even though she had been separated from them for most of her life, her infatuation with the barn animals hadn’t waned. The fish maybe even saw some of herself in the mischievous creatures. “My grandfather does all the work raising them. I mean, I help sometimes- or I did before coming to UA.”
Sigga did spend a lot of time with the goats, but very little of it was productive unless you counted playing with them. There were enough of them on the farm that they could keep themselves entertained without help from a fish, though. “If you ever find yourself in Hokkaido, you’re welcome to stop by the Tendō farm and see them. We’re located in Furano, practically the center of the island.”

Yui listened knowing little about farming personally. But she did not judge others for the job they did, everyone at the end of the day needed to work in order to live. It did not matter what the job was. Whether they be a superhero or a store clerk, a job was a job. "Sounds like a fun place." Yui said, though she sounded uncertain. She was not good at this communication, talking to people thing. She always ended up saying the wrong thing and upsetting them somehow. She hoped it was the right thing to say, she did not want to upset her, particularly if Sigga happened to like the memory in question.
"Does he get any help on the farm now you are here?" Yui asked, hoping that caring for the animals was not too difficult now his granddaughter happened to be here. She guessed it might not be otherwise why else would she have come? Though from the sounds of things, their childhoods had been somewhat different, at least in the places they were raised.
At the unexpected offer, Yui nodded. "Sure... Thanks." She gave a nervous smile. "I would say the same but I'd have to check with my parents first... It's not because they don't want my friends to come over." Yui hastened to explain. "They just like to be prepared, have things in the house, that sort of thing."

When the subject of her grandfather’s goats was in play, Sigga seemed completely unwilling or otherwise unable to accept any form of feedback that wasn’t exclusively positive in nature. It was good then, that the cerise-haired student suggested the farm was a fun place. Any nervousness or uncertainty in her tone had been completely overlooked by the normally astute, bald girl. Sigga simply nodded enthusiastically at the comment.
“I think he has a few farmhands working for him.” Sigga’s free hand rubbed her chin thoughtfully. She definitely remembered seeing a couple different people working on her grandfather’s farm when she first arrived in Japan. Though the environment was a little familiar thanks to some vivid childhood memories, the fact was that moving to a country she hadn’t been in for a decade had triggered an introverted mindset. She had quickly got on good terms with her grandfather, but any time strangers would show up on the farm, Sigga would evade them at all costs. You never knew what kind of trouble you could get into with someone you had just met. At least that was the frame of mind the fish had been in back on Hokkaido.
It was a little ironic then that the former introvert had so casually invited this girl to the family farm after only having spoken to her for a couple minutes. Clearly rational thinking and any sort of social pacing had gone out the window during the topic of goats. The other girl seemed to be trying to reciprocate Sigga’s invitation with one of her own, though albeit with a little less enthusiasm and a little more forethought. It also kind of sounded like Sigga had been promoted to the title of friend, the way the other girl framed the backtracking of her invitation. In any case, the bald girl barely noticed. “Do you have any pets?”

"That's good then." Yui said in reply, glad her grandfather was not stuck working out on the fields alone. Not that it would be her place to judge others anyway, everyone was different and that happened to be okay. Yui decided not to ask what they used the goats for, after all she was a vegetarian. But, she did not judge other for nor complain about people eating meat. Everyone happened to be different in the end so long as they were happy and not hurting anyone... That was all that mattered.
At the girl's next question, she shook her head. "No... Sadly." She brightened up after a few seconds of thought. "Unless my guitar counts?" Yui winced at her poor joke, this conversation thing tended to be much more difficult than it looked. The sports festival seemed to be a far easier thing to go through than simple basic conversations. "What about you?"

Her amber eyes looked at the guitar, perplexed for a moment before her mind processed the joke. Before it did that, however, it couldn’t help but wonder if a musical instrument had ever developed its own quirk. Maybe even became sentient. What an odd thought to have. Sigga dismissed it, turning back to the cerise-haired girl as she echoed her question.
Once again, the bald teem looked confused for a moment before cluing in. The other girl’s difficulty in social situations was becoming more overt. After all, Sigga had just finished explaining that her family owned a bunch of goats. Wait. Did she explain that, or had she only mentioned her grandfather working with them? Perhaps the other girl’s automatic question wasn’t a sign of her mind running on autopilot and she had merely misunderstood. Or maybe Sigga just hadn’t been clear.
“Just the goats.” The teen replied, curtly. She was beginning to wonder if the other girl was feeling a little uncomfortable from the conversation. While Sigga had planned to continue talking to her, pressing for some innocuous information would be in poor taste if the attention was unwanted. She decided to give the girl a little more space in case the student was starting to feel claustrophobic. Sigga took a few steps back to the pool table she was at, though continuing with the conversation. It was difficult for her to stop talking about the goats once the subject had been brought up. “I kind of miss them.”
She lined up a shot on the pool table before striking the white ball with her cue. It in turn let out a loud crack as it sent two other balls deflecting, one of them landing into a corner pocket. “Wish UA didn’t have these stupid rules prohibiting pets.”

Were the farm animals pets then? Or were they classed merely as farm animals? Yui decided against asking just in case such a question upset the other woman. It would not do to cause her to be upset, even if it was by accident. Yui managed a smile at her answer. "Fair enough." She longed to have a dog as a pet and a member of the family, but she knew such an argument would hold little effect on her parents. They let her go to UA High, let her stay here, supported her love of music, it seemed somehow greedy and selfish to ask for something, especially after everything else they had done for her. "It's still early, maybe you could go see them... And your grandfather?" Yui offered the suggestion out there, wondering if such a thing happened to be possible. She could go home if she wanted to, but she wanted to get to know her fellow students and friends better.
"Maybe you could ask for an exception?" Yui suggested quietly. "If you write it well maybe they will let you?" Provided said pet was clean and well behaved, they would have no reason to refuse surely? But then again, depending on who it was asked too might effect the possibility for success. Yui would not know how to go about it, what if by asking it annoyed the teachers? Or if they got permission but suddenly there was a student who happened to be allergic to the new pet? What might happen then?

Go see them? “Yeah. I wish.” Sigga replied rather sardonically, repositioning herself around the pool table looking for the next shot to take. She leaned in to take a stab at another ball with her cue, then paused before straitening and turning to face the other girl. “Do you know how much a train ticket to Hokkaido costs?” Her face looked bemused. Either the musician never rode the bullet train or she was far wealthier than the fish.
Sigga had been more or less broke her entire life. Back in America, most of her possessions had either been stolen or paid for with dirty money. But that was a long time ago now. She had technically been clean for months now. Still broke, though. At least her grandfather was awesome enough to buy her a decent smartphone.
The bald girl rolled her eyes then returned her attention to the billiards table. Another shot was taken, an audible CRACK sending five balls spinning every which way. One of them sunk into a pocket. “An exception for my goats?” Sigga could barely stifle a laugh. In no conceivable universe would the academy allow her to bring in a single billy. While the animals on her grandfather’s farm were immaculate, the cerise-haired girl likely did not possess the imaginative capacity to picture the extent of mayhem and chaos the goats were capable of achieving if left for the shortest time unsupervised. If some villain on the planet possessed a goat-controlling Quirk and had happened upon the goats of Hokkaido, Japan would not survive the ensuing anarchy such unbridled power would create. Though, maybe, the girl would one day take the suggestion and run with it. It could make for an amusing April Fools prank, sending a sternly worded letter demanding faculty allow Sigga to bring in a goat to live with her on campus.
“Hrm…” she began to murmur, as if rethinking the obviously amusing proposition. As the balls on the table slowed to a stop, the fish turned her head once more. “Let’s say, hypothetically, that I was considering writing a letter asking of such a thing… how would you suggest I write it?” You couldn’t tell from her tone that she had no intention of taking the idea seriously, but since the other girl had made the suggestion Sigga wanted to see if she could follow through with a concrete proposal, or possible fluster at the ridiculousness of such a concept.

Yui coloured at the question. In truth she had no idea, she had not yet decided to go home but suspected, or perhaps more accurately knowing her father as she did, he would provide a car... Or maybe insist she took the private car rather than say the train. "No... I am afraid I don't." Her family possessed a significant amount of money, this wealth proved to be a consistent point of embaressment for the petite girl. Especially if or when she encountered students who were not as fortune as herself in the money situation. She was not the type to rub the wealth in the faces of others. Her parents were rich and thus by extension she too happened to be. It was perhaps a credit to her character that she did not feel the corrupting or greedy grasp of money, if anything Yui was embarrassed as a result of it's presence.
It must have been a cutting remark to make, Yui feared, wondering if the other girl was unhappy or otherwise upset because she could not go home. Money had never been an issue for her or her family, Yui knew her mother had come from hard times, but she did not remember those days. Both her parents now possessed wealth in their own rights, but worked together as a unit. Eager to move on away from her diplomatic slip, yui nodded. "Yeah... Unless there is another pet you wanted to have? Like a cat or a hamster?" As it was a request, she wondered if it did not matter if they were asking permission for something they did not currently possess or have access to.
Everything would probably come down to the wording and to which teacher actually read the thing. "Politely, explain your reasons for wanting one and be sure to mention that such a homely touch will improve your studies and hero work." At least that was what she would write down if she wanted to have a pet in her dorm.

Sigga looked at the girl curiously. “Neither my grandfather nor I own any cats or hamsters.” Only after replying did she realize that the suggestion implied the fish simply buy an animal she did not yet possess. That was an option that hadn’t occurred to her but now that she thought about it, having a pet live in the dorm with her would be both a hefty responsibility and an added expense. Despite having a propensity to eat just about anything, goats too required a stable diet. It would be a far more efficacious strategy to convince one of her classmates to bring in a pet. Then she could simply visit it without having to care for the animal. She doubted anyone in 1-B owned a goat, though.
Her mind was slowly beginning to talk itself out of the idea of having a pet, even though she hadn’t seriously considered the matter. The musician’s further explanation of how she might go about in writing a bid to allow for her to bring in a kid further turned her off the idea. If anything, the burden of having a pet on campus would aggravate her studies rather than improve them.
Though you couldn’t tell just by looking at her, Sigga was doing very well in her current classes. Well, maybe with the exception of Physical Education, but that didn’t really count. There were several environmental factors that were contributing to her excellent studies at this time. Not having any close friends or distractions, waking up at the crack of dawn with nobody else to interact with, and the pressure of what might happen if she flunked out, all helped in making her a model student. She almost didn’t even need to fake it anymore. Plus it didn’t hurt that some of her classes were actually interesting.
“Hmm…” It still would be pretty funny to petition the academy to allow a bunch of goats onto the premises. She might even be able to hire them out to help trimming all the lawns on the UA grounds, earn some spending money.

"Oh... Well it is something for you to look into I guess." Yui suggested with a shrug of her shoulders. It was so difficult to talk to people, they always seemed to get mad or irritated or otherwise upset. She did not know what to say to the other girl really. Was she upset? Or angry? Did she think Yui to be some annoying rich girl who never need want for anything if she desired it? Just because she did not show off money, didn't mean the fact she came from wealth did not cause distress to others after all. "I'm going to go grab some breakfast." She declared pushing herself up off of the coach and slinging her guitar case over her shoulder with the ease of long familiarity. "Do... Do you want to come with?" Was it rude to ask? Was it rude to not ask? Would she even wish to spend more time with her? Yui tried to not let herself stress over it, surely it mattered that she offered right? It would have been ruder to simply walk away and or not offer. Of course, the other girl was playing her game. Maybe she did not want to come along with since it meant stopping.

The fish-girl’s amber eyes seemed to be staring through the billiards table, still in deep contemplation. She could already predict how this train of thought was going to conclude. While the idea of bringing even a single goat onto the campus would certainly liven things up a bit, there was just too much work involved to make it worthwhile. Oh, how she missed the farm. To think that several months ago she didn’t even know if her grandfather and his goats were even alive…
The wistful look on the teenager’s face faded when the other girl spoke again. Sigga probably wouldn’t actually be looking into it… not unless her classes became extra boring and she required a goat to spice up her life. …And everyone else’s life as well. “Heh. If only Hokkaido was a little bit closer I could just bring one in for a day…” How cool would it be if show-and-tell was still a thing. They should really bring that back. Maybe she could get that Kogami Shibuya to do something about it?
Sigga turned again to look at her peer, the cerise-haired girl now asking her if she was interested in grabbing some breakfast. The fish shook her head in the negative. “Nah. Ate just before coming here.” Sigga’s breakfast time was pretty early in the day on account of her sleeping schedule. She’d usually do a voice chat with her grandfather while eating something simple before the sun was up. “Gonna stick around and practice some more.” she added. Truth was she didn’t exactly get much practice in during their conversation. Sigga had meant to try some difficult shots today, but apparently her mind wasn’t capable of multitasking properly.

Yui did not know what to make of this. If she had the courage to offer, she would have asked if Yui gave her the money would she go home if she was able to. But somehow she suspected that such an action, despite the honest and kind intention in which it was meant, would be seen as an insult. Such a slight based on wealth was not something she wished to put the other girl through. "Maybe you could." She said in agreement, the last thing she wanted was to be seen simply as the rich girl at UA High. That would suck...
She gave her a nod, okay, so she had already eaten. "Cool I will see you around then." Yui collected her things and offered her a nervous smile as she headed towards the exit. She understood the girl's desire to practice what she enjoyed. "Have fun." Yui called back over her shoulder as she exited the room and closed the door behind her.

Neither the discussion of traveling to Hokkaido, nor the fact the other girl was walking around campus with her own musical instrument was enough to fully clue Sigga in to the wealth disparity between the two students. Had the musician offered to foot the bill for the bald girl’s travel expenses, she would have been met first with suspicion, followed by disbelief, followed by some more suspicion, followed by acceptance, followed by more suspicion. You could never have too much suspicion when it came to someone’s good intentions. Sigga’s world simply did not function like that. Though the teenager would have been tempted enough by such a proposal as to temporarily discard her rule on reading other people’s minds and try to sneak in an attempt to ascertain exactly what the cerise-haired girl’s intentions were. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, no such rule breaking was to take place today. Head still partially in the clouds, Sigga almost didn’t notice her peer’s casual farewell. Eventually she caught sight of the nervous smile as her mind caught up with current events. The fish pursed her lips and waved, reciprocating a casual, “See ya!” though gave no follow up remark to the suggestion to have fun. Her amber eyes did watch the other girl curiously, though, as she collected her instrument and exit the building. Sigga couldn’t shake the feeling like she was forgetting something. She hated having that feeling. You’d think her Quirk would alleviate such problems, but ‘twas was not the case. As she lost sight of the other girl, Sigga turned back to face the billiards table. The conversation, though an acceptable diversion, had distracted her rather thoroughly from her original purpose. The hustler hissed out a sigh, now eyeing the table with suspicion. Right. She was going to practice that jump shot. It didn’t hurt to have some extra skills once this UA thing didn’t work out. The girl got back to work, rearranging some of the balls to leave one by a corner pocket and a few others as a barrier to overcome. When the adjustments were set she made an open-hand bridge with a firm base, lined up her shot and hit the cue ball dead center. Another sharp CLACK echoed off the walls, followed by a few more as the phenolic resin sphere was sent flying over the barrier and then off the side of the table. The girl swore loudly, giving chase to the wayward orb. [Exit Thread]
